From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 265

Eleanor still couldn’t quite wrap her head around it. This was the magic of money, she guessed. That morning she’d been on a snowy mountain, and by the afternoon, she was sunbathing on Max’s private island.

The next day, Max whisked her away to a European-style castle. The whole place was blanketed with red maple leaves, like something out of a fairy tale. It felt like they’d lived through all four seasons in just a couple of days—spring, summer, autumn, and winter, all spinning by in a blur.

Sometimes, when Eleanor glanced at the photo previews, she couldn’t believe how beautiful they were. They looked more like art than real life.

Max slipped his arm around her waist and pressed a soft kiss to the back of her neck. “Do you like them?” he asked, his voice low.

A shiver ran through her, her knees suddenly weak. She pulled away just a little, trying to steady herself. “They’re gorgeous. Choosing favorites is going to be impossible.”

Max grinned. “Who says you have to choose? Let’s keep them all.”

Eleanor rolled her eyes. “You realize how many photos we’ve taken in the last two days?” The photographers had been everywhere, snapping away nonstop. By now, she was honestly a little over it. Max, though, seemed to be having the time of his life.

“It’s beautiful here,” she admitted quietly. Outside the old castle, the grass was deep green, everything bursting with spring. Sitting on the swing, she felt younger than she had in years. No one would guess she was a mom to a four-year-old, or that she’d already been married once before.

“If you like it, we can come back every year,” Max said.

She gave him a sideways look. “This place is yours too?”

He raised his eyebrows, looking pleased. “Yeah. It’s a winery. Want to have a drink by the lake?”

Eleanor shook her head. With her luck, drinking would only end in disaster. Her tolerance was way too low to risk it.

Max looked a little disappointed. “Next time, then.”

Meanwhile, even though Jessie Goff had promised to handle all the wedding details, Peter Clarkson couldn’t help checking in.

One day, as his car rolled past a bridal boutique, a wedding photo in the display window caught his eye. His heart skipped.

“Stop the car!” he blurted out.
