From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 293

Yolanda had planned to meet Linden at a restaurant after work. He showed up an hour late.

She checked her watch, her expression growing impatient, and dialed her grandpa. “Grandpa, the guy you set me up with still isn’t here after an hour. Can I just leave?”

Frank hesitated. “Wait a bit longer. Linden’s a lawyer, so he must be busy. Did he give you a reason?”

He had, actually. Two of his clients had gotten into a brawl at the courthouse, and Linden had just come from the police station. He’d apologized right away. It was a reasonable excuse, but Yolanda was in no mood to let it slide.

“Grandpa, I get that things happen, but if we set this up for today, shouldn’t he have made time for it? A lawyer who can’t keep track of his schedule doesn’t seem very professional.” Just as she finished, Linden walked in and caught the tail end of her complaint.

Yolanda pressed her lips together. “Grandpa, I’m going to hang up. We’ll talk later.” She ended the call.

Linden gave her an apologetic look. “I’m really sorry for making you wait. This one’s on me. It was just a crazy day.”

Yolanda forced a smile. “No worries. You’re a lawyer. I get that you’re busy.” She sounded polite enough, but it was obvious she wasn’t happy.

Linden tried to keep things light. “Have you ordered yet? They have this amazing dessert here.”

But Yolanda wasn’t having it. “Oh, I was starving so I already ate. Plus, I’ve got plans with a friend later. I should get going, so let’s just end it here for tonight.”

She made her exit as clear as possible, but Linden kept his cool. “Are you free this weekend, Ms. Stansel?”

“Sorry, I’m not.”

Linden didn’t push. “Alright. Let me know when you’re free, and maybe we can try again. Sorry again about today.”

Yolanda just smiled, not saying yes or no, and walked out.

Linden let out a quiet, frustrated laugh. He’d definitely messed up that date.

He sent a quick message. “George, want to grab a drink?”
