From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 295

When Max got home, Eleanor was already fast asleep. The next morning, she woke up with no clue when he had come in. They lived under the same roof now, but each had their own room.

Over breakfast, Max brought up, “Linden wants you to introduce your best friend to him. He really messed things up.”

Eleanor blinked in confusion.

Max grinned, a little too pleased with himself. “The Sidler and Stansel families are close, so they tried to set him up with your friend. He was an hour late to the date.”

Eleanor let out a quiet sigh. That was rough. Showing up an hour late to a blind date? No way would any woman give you a second chance after that. Besides, from what Eleanor knew, Yolanda wasn’t interested in blind dates at all. Even if Linden had been on time, there was probably no hope.

“I can’t help with that,” Eleanor said, not sugarcoating it. Linden had helped her out plenty, but love was one thing you couldn’t force.

Max leaned back, looking amused. “Why not find some other women for Mr. Sidler to meet?”

He studied her with a sly smile. “Mrs. Clarkson, everyone thinks your husband doesn’t care about women. Where would I even find someone to introduce to him? Unless he likes men, then I might have a few options.”

Eleanor rolled her eyes, not in the mood for his jokes. She changed the subject. “Are you working late tonight? If not, maybe we could go check out our wedding venue. It should be mostly ready.”

A small smile tugged at her lips. “That sounds nice. Thanks for taking care of everything.”

Max shook his head. “It’s really not a big deal.” The truth was, he was happy to do it.

Eleanor spent most of the day buried in reports, but eventually, she noticed a group of coworkers laughing together, their heads bent over someone’s phone. Curiosity got the better of her. “What’s going on? You all look way too entertained.”

One of them grinned. “Eleanor, did you hear? The big boss, Mr. Clarkson—Max—is getting married.”

Eleanor kept her face neutral. “Yeah, you mentioned it before.”
