From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 322

“You’re back? You could have at least given me a heads up. I nearly had a heart attack.”

Max glanced at the stack of papers in her hands. “Not bad. Is this for that big presentation at the end of the month?”

Eleanor nodded. “Yeah… Actually, I wanted to ask you something. How do you get over stage fright?”

Max took the script from her. “Easy. Practice in front of me every day.”

Eleanor blinked, a little caught off guard.

He leaned in. “I’ll be there on the day, sitting in the front row. When you’re on stage, just look at me. Forget about everyone else, pretend they’re not even there. Just focus on me.”

She hesitated. “Will that really work?”

Max raised an eyebrow. “You don’t trust me?”

Of course she did. If there was anyone who knew how to handle big moments, it was Max. She might doubt the whole world, but never him.

“Okay. I trust you.”

Max settled back on the sofa, script in hand, looking way too comfortable. “How about this? Every time you mess up, you give me a kiss. Consider it your reward.”

Eleanor’s ears turned bright red. She muttered, “You’re such a perv.”

He grinned. “Just kidding. Come on, let’s start.”

She had the speech memorized, but somehow, with Max sitting in front of her, perfectly put together, all serious and intense, she could barely get her first line out. The pressure was real, and she felt it in every shaky breath.

She stumbled right at the beginning.

Max frowned, not helping her nerves at all.

Her confidence started to crumble. “Was I… did I say something wrong?”

Max shook his head. “You did fine. I’m just giving you a little pressure. When you’re up there, you have to treat everyone in the audience like they don’t get it. Don’t let their chatter, their whispers, or their faces mess with you. Not even mine.”
