From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 339

Jordan couldn’t quite believe what he’d just heard.

He stared at Yolanda, hardly blinking. “You’re married.” His voice shook a little, just enough that only someone really listening would notice.

Yolanda just nodded, her eyes steady. “Yeah. I am.”

“Congratulations, then.”

They really had gone their separate ways. For the longest time after their breakup, Yolanda struggled to move on. Even that time at the class reunion, seeing Jordan again made her heart skip. But some things, once lost, just never come back.

She turned to Sydney. “Hey, Sydney, can you help these two out? I’m heading in to try on my wedding dress with my husband.”

Linden’s eyebrows lifted, clear as day he was in a good mood. He slid an arm around her waist and led her toward the fitting rooms.

Elizabeth had wanted to show off in front of Yolanda, make her jealous, maybe rub in how happy she was. She could sense, though, that Jordan’s feelings for Yolanda were different. It made her uneasy. Luckily, at least Yolanda was married now.

“Jordan, I think we’re done here. Let’s go home.”

Jordan didn’t seem to hear her at all. Elizabeth had to call his name three times before he finally snapped out of it.

He stood, eyes lingering on Yolanda and Linden in the distance, then let out a quiet sigh. “Alright, let me drive you home.”

The confidence he’d built since coming back just crumbled in that moment.

It had been Yolanda who chased him, but she was also the one who ended it.

Jordan grew up in a poor family, but because he was aloof and did well in school, nobody really messed with him. Things changed once Yolanda started liking him. Suddenly, even the kids he’d never talked to were picking fights with him.

He’d found her pursuit annoying at first. But then he saw her biting her lip, tears falling, and his heart softened.

“If you can wait until after we graduate, maybe we can give it a try.”
