“Relax, Yolanda. Mr. Sidler’s got a bunch of rowdy friends. No way they’re letting him pick you up without a fight.”

Yolanda shot her a look. “Isn’t the worst one your husband?”

Eleanor fell silent for a second. Now that she thought about it, Yolanda was probably right.

Linden showed up at the Stansel house right on time, Max tagging along as part of the groom’s squad. Everyone else rushed ahead, eager to storm the door, but Max just strolled like he was out for a lazy walk. He was the last to get there.

“Seriously? That’s all? You really think you can get a bride being this stingy?”

Linden clenched his jaw and sent over fifty thousand instead.

Max finally looked satisfied. “Now we’re talking.”

When the crowd pushed him up to the door, he made a big show of clearing his throat. “Babe, it’s me, your husband. Want to open the door for me?”

He grinned. “By the way, I just got fifty thousand from Linden. I already sent it all to you.”

Everyone stared at him in disbelief. This was someone else’s wedding, and here he was showing off.

Eleanor’s face turned scarlet. There were so many people watching and listening.
