From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 366

The next day, Eleanor found herself glancing over at Yolanda’s bungalow every few minutes. She hadn’t seen her best friend all morning. Max caught her in the act and quietly reminded her not to hover. He said it was better to let the newlyweds enjoy themselves without feeling watched.

Eleanor rolled her eyes at him, then stretched out on a lounge chair by the beach, pretending she was totally relaxed. It wasn’t until late afternoon that Yolanda finally emerged, moving slowly, rubbing at the marks Linden had left on her skin. She looked like she was considering murder.

Max spotted Linden a little later and couldn’t resist a jab. “Must be nice, being newlyweds. Soon it’ll be me and my wife with our kid, and we won’t get nearly as much alone time as you two do.”

Linden gave him a look. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Max shrugged, all fake innocence. “Nothing really. I just hope you won’t get jealous when my little family is so happy. Just trying to make you feel better, you know, compliment you in my own way.”

Linden snorted. “Are you calling me infertile, Max?”

Max grinned. “Oh, you caught that? I wasn’t talking about your wife. I meant... you.”

That was it. Linden had reached his limit. He turned and stalked off, heading straight for Yolanda. If he stayed any longer, he might have actually punched Max.

Yolanda saw him coming back. “Weren’t you getting food?”

Linden looked annoyed. “Let’s just eat by ourselves. If I have to sit with them, I’ll lose my appetite.”

Neither of them brought up the box of gifts again, and whatever tension had lingered between them just faded away. Still, Linden kept trying to drop hints or sneak around when it came to using protection at night. But every single time, right when he thought he’d gotten away with it, Yolanda would turn to him and say, dead serious, “Where is it?”

She’d hand it over and say, “Put it on. I’m not getting pregnant right now.”

Linden’s dream of having a baby was crushed every single time.
