From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 75

Shawn called Linden. “Did you see his post?”

Linden rolled his eyes. “Yeah, I saw it.”

“That tie? No way he’d make a big deal about it online unless a woman gave it to him. Come on, who do you think she is?”

They both thought of the same person. Linden had only filed her divorce papers a month ago. Was Max really being this obvious already?

Linden shook his head, trying to sound uninterested. “No idea.”

Shawn remembered the name of the patient Max had fussed over at the hospital. Eleanor.

“I know who it is. Send me some cash and I’ll spill.”

Linden’s lips twitched. “Honestly, I really don’t care. If that’s all, I’m hanging up.”

Shawn was speechless.

Meanwhile, Katie had zoomed in on that photo of the tie a hundred times, trying to figure out why her cousin would post such a basic, cheap tie. Was it really just a gift from a ‘friend’?

Only Eleanor was clueless about the chaos her gift had caused.

...

Peter tracked down where Eleanor was living. He’d pictured her living it up, but she was just crashing at her best friend’s place.

He stood outside her door. “Eleanor, open up.”

Eleanor had just finished a face mask and wasn’t expecting him. She called out through the door. “Peter, I have nothing to say to you. Just go.”

“Eleanor, open the door.” Peter’s voice got louder.

“I’ve already filed with the court. Just go home and wait for the summons. Once the judge rules, we’re done. For good.”

Divorce.

Even drunk, those words snapped something in Peter. His temper flared.

He was still so much stronger than her. He grabbed her and pulled her hard against him, his face dark and twisted. “Divorce? Eleanor, you’re carrying my child. Who do you think you’re going to marry? Who would want you, with your brother to look after? Tell me.”

Eleanor laughed coldly. “You’d be surprised how many people would. I’ll take half your money, half your company shares, and use it to find my brother a bone marrow match anywhere in the world. If that doesn’t work, I’ll take him overseas for treatment.”

“The farther I am from you, the better.”

“Peter, ever heard the saying, ‘There’s plenty of fish in the sea’?”

“When I have money, there’ll be a line of men waiting for me, tickets in hand. Did you ever think of that?”
