I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 159

“I’ll have someone come knock this wall down in a few days!”

“But… that’s really not a good idea…”

“What’s not good about it? It’s what I want!”

Niamh watched her father and Lyric go, a small smile playing on her lips. It suddenly occurred to her that Lyric and her dad were actually a pretty good match.

Once in bed, Niamh picked up her phone, intending to text Jareth an apology, but the words wouldn’t come.

At that same moment, Jareth was also picking up his phone to message her. He typed out a line: [Ms. Lynn, were you staying at this hotel on May 1st, 2016?]

Just as he was about to send it, he hesitated. It felt too direct. If Niamh found out he was the man who had assaulted her five years ago and caused her so much suffering, she would hate him even more. She might even take the quadruplets and disappear from the city entirely.

With that thought, Jareth deleted the message, character by character. He decided that even if Niamh was the woman from that night, he couldn’t rush into revealing the truth to the children. Absolutely not.

He changed his approach. [Ms. Lynn, have you made a decision about pretending to be my girlfriend to meet my grandfather?]

“Ping.”

Niamh had just set her phone down on the nightstand when the WhatsApp notification sounded. She picked it up immediately, knowing it had to be from Jareth. When she read his message, she breathed a sigh of relief. She had been expecting him to bring up the issue of compensation. The entire office was destroyed; she couldn’t afford to pay for it even if it cost her her life.

[If you agree to be my girlfriend, we can consider the matter of your quadruplets blowing up my office settled.]

Jareth sent in a follow-up text.

...

The next morning at eight, Jareth received an email from Lenny. It contained the complete customer transaction records for the Portsmore Hotel for that day in 2016. Jareth scrolled through the list of names while eating breakfast, his eyes scanning for anyone with the last name Lynn. The list was long, and his eyes started to blur.

Ten minutes later, he found it. In the records for the guest rooms, there was a Niamh Lynn. His heart began to pound violently in his chest.

Niamh had been registered in room 1807. The room he had been in that night was 1808. He remembered from his investigation five years ago that it had been booked by a man named Howard.

What was going on? Could Niamh have gone into the wrong room that night?

The thought spurred him to action. He pulled out his phone and called Usher. “Usher, have you handled that matter I gave you?”
