Angel Tiras’s Pov
Adon sits in front of a mirror as three servants straighten his long hair, adding oils that make it shiner as it falls on his shoulders. He has an obsession with beauty and it can be annoying at times. Especially when he gets a group of servants to style his hair and several more to prepare his herbal bath while their more vital tasks wait.
“Did you really have to change your hairstyle for the fourth time this week?” I question.
I notice a smirk on his reflection as he gazes into the mirror. “It puzzles me how you of all people is yet to notice that beauty can be a key to garnering loyalty. You only believe in wisdom while Ronen trusts in his charm. But you both forget that none of those attributes are written on your foreheads. Strangers see faces first, so I have to look good for us all. I do not expect your thanks,” he answers.
I am not surprised by his lame defence. Beauty may dazzle strangers, but only those that know your character can grant you genuine loyalty. Adon pretends to believe otherwise because he cannot resist the desire to look fabulous.
“Now that you have reclaimed your peacock appearance, you should be the one to wake Princess Andria and invite her to have breakfast with us,” Ronen urges.
We sent her father, King Ademon, the tribute he had demanded to allow the marriage of his beautiful daughter to us. It felt like a huge loss before we witnessed what a powerful goddess she is. Now we are relieved she is all ours. We need to make arrangements for the marriage before anything happens to ruin things. Because we understand that we are not her true mates. We got rid of our human mate even before transferring the mate bond. The evil thing attacked Princess Andria for some strange reason because I am sure it wasn’t for us. I was utterly disappointed when our own loyal assistant defended her, even offered his own life in place of hers. He has never before acted so dramatic and foolish. We couldn’t kill him of course. He has been like a brother to us. So we just hope he will come to his senses soon enough and get rid of that disgraceful thing before it kills him too.
“I will gladly wake our queen. Her beautiful face is a nice sight to brighten my day,” Adon says before dismissing the servants and making his way out.

Angel Adon’s Pov
I knock on the main door to Princess Andria’s guest chambers and wait to see her enchanting face. Perhaps I should have woken her lazy servants first as she will need them to prepare for the day. But it’s too late since I have already knocked.
The door creaks as it opens and I take a step back to create a respectful space. I am however appalled by the face that greets me when the door opens wide. It’s hideously ugly!
This cannot be our queen. We were yet to see her without makeup but she cannot be this ugly! The only thing that makes me think it’s her is the tiny silver bracelet around the wrist of her left hand which she doesn’t seem to take off. Could a troll have kidnapped the Princess at night and stayed in her chambers? Her skin looks like a wet land that suddenly dried up and cracked. Her eyes have a furious look that was unnoticeable with all the colours that lined the eyelids. And her lips which no longer have the red lipstick look like they burned, healed but left a massive scar. Which is weird because all werewolves heal.
“What a…. repulsive face you have!” the words leave my mouth even before I mull them over.
Her mouth falls open with shock before her hands fly upwards to cover her face. She rushes away from the door, escaping back to into her guest chambers. Calling her ugly upfront was probably not the wisest idea. But unless she got replaced by someone else during the night it is a fact that not even her own mother could have loved her natural appearance.
“You’re saying that she isn’t attractive at all?” Ronen scoffs.
“No. She is repulsive,” I answer and watch his smile disappear.
“Please tell me you didn’t tell her that,” Tiras reprimands.
“Unfortunately I did. She said she had hoped that we would appreciate her gift of controlling dragons enough to love her anyway,” I answer.
“Well, no matter how ugly she may be she will make a better queen than the human we were mated to. Besides, our palace wouldn’t even be standing if it wasn’t for her gift,” Tiras urgues.
He is right. The princess might be ugly but she will have to do. No other female has the gift she possesses. Hopefully none of our subjects or guests will ever see her true face. Because the gossip will spread like wildfire.
