King Ronen’s Pov
I should be laughing at the sounds of her screams as the soldiers whip her. Her makeup washed away after one of our angry servants hurled hot water at her face. Now she looks like a wailing troll with a bloody face and broken teeth. The silver chain attached tightly to her neck prevents her from shifting.
She has lost all of her grace and everyone is laughing. But I am too afraid of what she will reveal that I am unable to take pleasure in watching her pay for her lies and wickedness.
“I… will confess! Please make them stop!” she pleads as the soldiers kick and slap her repeatedly.
I wonder what her father would say if he were here now. He demanded a massive tribute knowing that his daughter cannot control rogue dragons. I would hang her in his face.
“We are not done watching. And I do not think you’re ready to confess the actual truth,” Tiras states in a frigid tone.
We allowed servants and guests into the room to watch her punishment since she values grace above all things. But we shall send them away when it’s time to hear her honest confession. One can only imagine their thoughts if it turns out that our human mate was the one who commanded the dragons as Tiras had guessed.
The excited soldiers twist her arms into strange angles and she cries louder in pain. She is a werewolf so her body can take a lot more punishment than our human mate. We still need her alive to confess though.
“Chop off her toes!” one of the servants yells and more nod in support.
The soldiers look up at us, seeking approval.
“Do it,” I say.
It’s just her toes. She won’t bleed to death before confessing.
“Nooo!!! I … will tell you everything! I have done nothing… wrong!” she screams as the soldiers pull off her shoes and chop off the toes of her right foot with a blunt axe.
Her wails fall on deaf ears as all of us remain silent while the soldiers cut the toes of her left foot as well. She will heal once the silver chain gets removed. So the torture can carry on until she admits her wickedness.
We knew she would try to withhold or lie about the identity of the person who commanded the dragons. Because she is full of envy. She would rather suffer excruciating pain than watch someone else get the glory and respect she stole.
“It was your… assistant! It was Lior who commanded the dragons to leave!” she lies.
Lior is not present in here, which is why she thinks she can lie about him being the one. But we have fought dragons with him before and he never commanded any even when his life was in danger. It appears that the soldiers have not hurt her enough to understand that we no longer believe her every lie.
“Cut off her fingers as well,” Tiras orders.
“Why would you need her blood to control a tamed dragon?” Tiras questions.
“It was… her mother’s blood that was used to tame and control my dragon. A witch helped me… cast the spell. But it’s power has faded since then,” she explains.
I have never before felt nauseated by someone’s wickedness. But I do feel like throwing up which is undignifying.
“And who has been controlling the rogue dragons that attack our palace. It is not hard to tell that they have a master?” Tiras questions.
“It is the Witch. She must… have found the father of your human mate,” our battered Queen answers.
Why does her confession keep getting worse when I was hoping for at least one good thing? If I can remember clearly, our human mate came here in pursuit of money to keep searching for her father. At least that’s what Lior said.
Her life was already a mess and we made it a lot worse. We humiliated her and almost killed her. The only reason she lives is because Lior stepped in. The bastard chose to hide the truth from us so he could be her hero and she could be his. It all makes sense now. Why he would give up his earnings just to keep her. He betrayed us!
