Angel Tiras’s Pov
“How did your witch manage to get Ira’s father inside of our kingdom?” I question.
A day ago I wouldn’t have cared. But now I have realized that our lack of concern has cost us everything.
“My father’s spies… are everywhere,” our wicked queen answers.
“We should cut her head off and send it to her father,” Adon suggests.
I want her dead too. Because that’s the only way I can feel satisfied that we have hurt her enough.
Her family and whoever that witch is has been hunting down our mate’s gifted family for decades. They have killed both of her parents and drained their blood just so they can control dragons for a limited amount of time. We have done things in pursuit of power but not even us can relate to such greed and evil.
I doubt that King Ademon has spies everywhere. Only loyal servants can be spies. And Ademon prefers slaves. He only has enough men to chase after our mates family wherever they run.
“I agree. But her beheading should be an opportunity to win back our mate. We must get her back first so she can watch,” I advise.
I imagine that Ira would love to have her own revenge. Not just for the transgressions committed against her but her family as well. We cannot let her know that her father is dead as well, yet. Her human heart can only take too much. And her body has been the most resilient it can be.
I wonder if she healed from the horrific punishment we were fooled into putting her through. Lior must have gotten her the best treatment he could since he understood her importance and wanted her for himself.
People will say that we should thank him for saving her. But she would have become our most beloved queen if only he told the truth.
Ira was the first human to speak her most honest and boldest thoughts in front of our faces. She was beyond wise. More than any of our councilmen. But we couldn’t sense her gift of controlling dragons in her defiant words. Which made us choose an hideous Princess.
“Have you forgotten that we swore in front of a multitude that we will never want her again? That we rejected her using the harshest of words and warned her against setting a foot within our palace again?” Adon reminds in a low tone.
Those are not the only transgressions we committed against her. At the time it seemed important to make our guests believe that she was a dirty and crazy human. That there was a good reason we were so cruelly rejecting her in front of thousands of guests while we were in fact seeking to please an evil Princess by carrying out her sick demands. Ira handled our rejections like a queen.
People believed that she was mad, more so because she didn’t cry and beg like everyone expected. But I fear that it was because she no longer wanted us. She had seen the worst side of us and believed she was better off with Lior.
“Adon and I can plead with her to come back. Just make sure there are enough gifts to fill her with joy so she will stay,” Ronen says.
I am not a man of charm. So I am fine with staying.
“What shall we do with our deceitful assistant?” I ask.
“Lock him up for his betrayal,” Ronen answers.
They both rise to leave. But the doorway gets blocked by two guards and a young woman rushing in.
“Your majesties, this woman claims to have information concerning your assistant and the human he has been keeping. She says that they are leaving this kingdom,” one of the guards speaks, gesturing at the young woman who bows her head.
So Lior has abandoned his duties here to run away with our mate?
