I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 51

Ira’s Pov

I slip off King Ronen’s back when we finally halt at the seashore overlooking the devil’s Island. The sight of it does indeed live up to it’s name.

While my human eyes cannot see everything from this far, the Island is clearly full of hills made of hard rocks. There are no trees or vegetation on it, but dark clouds seems to be hovering over the place like an evil entity.

“See, I didn’t lie. I am now on your side, your majesties,” Thumas charms as he, Linda and Lior arrive behind us.

Queen Andria’s miserable grunts can be heard deep in the forest. I may be human but I would have been faster on my legs. She complained about the wet earth, the uneven paths and sounds of forest insects. She must have lived in the clean and comfortable chambers of her father’s palace her whole life. Who would have thought that her future would be different?

I am surprised that none of her husbands have offered to carry her. Not even the angel who pulled me back when I punched her. Their actions are confusing.

“I have always dreamt of us swimming to a beautiful island and finding fortunes to last us a lifetime. I know that isn’t that kind of Island, but will you swim with me?” Linda says to her mate, taking his hand.

“Your dream will be fantastic to watch. Hundreds of sharks await to welcome you in those waters,” King Adon informs. “What?!” Linda exclaims, moving closer to the shore to check.

Now they he has mentioned it, my poor human sight finally notice the moving shapes right under the surface of the water. Just how harder does fate intend to make this quest? We haven’t reached the witchelms and it feels like we have encountered a thousand challenges.

King Ronen turns and takes my face between his hands. He leans down slightly and pecks my lips.

“We will fly to the Island and see if we can find anyone. Stay here. Lior will protect you,” he says.

I swat his hands off my face. Just because I let him carry me it doesn’t mean I have forgotten the horrors they have put me through. Besides I know their actions are just pretence.

“Use your heads. Unless Sincarions can fly and eat rocks they cannot be on that Island,” I point.

Why am I the only one who sees the insanity in the claim that the last family of Sincarions live there? What do they eat on a rocky Island?

I am

“They were chased by King Ademon’s soldiers towards this shore. They couldn’t turn back so where else could they have gone? “Thumas argues.

“Has anyone seen them closing to this side to get food or water?” I question and the traitor appears stupefied.

“I would have ripped you apart if it wasn’t for the presence of my masters. You were going to sell Ira to the witch like some kind of cheap animal. The angel kings might think they need your treacherous head now, but once they come into their senses I will give your traitorous mouth the brutal justice it deserves,” Lior snarls at him.

I had assumed that he is smarter than most men. That doesn’t seem to be case. You do not reveal your plan to kill a person long before you get a chance to do it.

“My parents taught me that everyone deserves a chance at redemption. You shall see just how helpful I will be to the angel kings,” Thumas calmly claims.

Lior snorts and looks away. I remember that the traitor had also told us about witch’s traps earlier but we haven’t spotted any. This is the reason we really need a Sincarion.

“This has been a long journey. I will go relieve myself,” Linda announces before turning to head back inside the forest. “They are eager to impress you,” Lior says as we watch the distant figures of the angel kings circle the Island.

“They are eager to kill their evil aunt so she can stop ruining their kingdom,” I correct.

Lior slowly nods. “Indeed. They had it-” he is cut shot by the loud sound of Linda’s scream. Her wail hints of pain and fear. Who could have attacked her?
