I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 62

Ira’s Pov

Only three of the stones land with similar markings on top. I did not even win the service of the least competent seer. There is no need to turn and pretend to be leaving since no doors will open.

“Let me help. I am usually a lucky man,” Lior requests.

I quickly pick up the stones and hand them to him. Linda quickly spits on them, muttering something about adding her luck to his.

He tosses and only four land with similar markings on the top, large ones.

“It’s still better than her throw,” Linda comforts.

Aruin tries next and fails just as spectacularly. He hands the stones to Angel Tiras who rearages them in his hand, placing the sides with small markings facing upwards. He steps forward and throws the stones in a manner that they fly through the air without rolling then only slides across the floor after landing. All ten stones remain with tiny markings on top.

I may not have fully forgiven them but I cannot resist a smile.

“That was impressive, thank you,” I say.

“You do not have to thank me, honey. This quest is important to us all,” he replies.

Of course. They need to kill their devious aunt and their powerful uncle before they destroy their precious kingdom and take their thrones. We all got something to lose.

The door in front of us opens. A man in golden robes and sandles steps out, his hair longer than of any woman I have seen. He looks neither human nor werewolf. His skin is extremely pale and his eyes have multiple colours.

“That’s a remarkable throw. May I know who you’re, sir?” the seer asks Tiras.

“I am Lionel, from Wolfsburg,” the angel lies.

“I am Kael, the best seer. Why do you seek my counsel?” The seer asks.

“We are heading to witchelms, to rescue our relatives who were taken by Lysandra’s men,” Lior answers. “We wish to know what we can do to make our quest successful.”

The seer, Kael, closes his eyes and lowers his head for a long time. I bet he can see the future of our quest and how it ends. I wish they could be hired to join us. But they have too much fortune here to want to risk their lives for a little more.

“Lysandra’s spells will entrap you forever if you approach her territory. Your best chance at life is to turn back,” he says after raising his head.

What?! This is the counsel we traveled so far to get? I feel like cutting off the man’s head. If it is my life I cared about the most I would not be here.

“That’s bullshit. We paid you all that fortune and you have chosen to lie to us?” Aruin angrily counters.

“Oh, I forgot you are a Sincarion. It’s been a while since we last saw your kind so free,” the Seer casually replies as if unbothered by the fact that he just got caught lying. “You paid too little for better counsel. It is not hard to see who you are, the angel kings of Lordsland, their famous assistant and the Princess of Levitts. Surely your tribute to us should have been greater if you are seeking the way to destroy the devious witch as well as Luminis before he gets free and destroys your kingdom,” he adds.

“The golden trumpet? Of what help will a trumpet be in matters of life and death?” Lior asks.

I was wondering the same. What can a trumpet do against the witch’s magical powers or the dark angel? Are we being lied to again despite my promise to give them three drops of my blood?

Aruin hasn’t complained so I think no lie has been told, even if the seer’s best counsel doesn’t make sense, yet.

“The golden trumpet is the key to defeating the dark angel. King Alodias was in possession of it when he marched his army into witchelms. They however fell into one of Lysandra’s trap of dark magic before the King had the chance to blow the trumpet,” the seer explains.

It sounds both incredibly dangerous as well as inspiring all at the same time. If there is a weapon that can harm Luminis, it is worthy of retrieving.

“I have heard that the spirits of the undead army are virtually ill-tempered. Is it really possible to get this trumpet from them? “King Ronen questions.

“If you break the spell that binds them to the world of the dead they will be at your service,” Kael answers.

Yes, the angel kings could use an ally. Most of their neighbours have already joined Lysandra’s side.

“Beware of traitors among you though. The people you believe you know might turn out to be the weapons that destroy you,” the seer adds.
