Ira’s POV
Linda pushed me into the dark pit, she is the reason we ended up here, separated from my other mates. That however does not mean that Lior had the right to sacrifice her. Why does it seem like it was his plan all along? She was obsessed with him. Would agree to anything he asked. Did she consent to being sacrificed? I wouldn’t be surprised if she did. Did he do it to get here and save us or did he actually turn against us?
I cannot ask him, because he cannot confess that his true intentions is to save us. I however get a hint of his plan when he discreetly winks at me. He is still on our side. There is still hope.
“Ira, my new beloved servant, I offer you a chance to join the winning side. You’re more valuable than any throne or jewel of this world. But you will live in this cell if you do not choose to be my loyal servant. Do not fear lord Luminis as I have a plan to fool him,” Lysandra says and gestures back at the figure that resembles me and is staring intently on angel Adon. “Queen Andria had lost her purpose, so I have her a new one. Luminis will want the Princess of Levitts for himself before hunting down the foul offsprings of his brother, so I shall give him Queen Andria who will henceforth pretend to be the real you while you serve me secretly,” the witch adds.
I am too astounded to think straight. Queen Andria agreed to have her face altered to look like me? Where is her pride?
“All of the things you seek would make Osmund frown in disgust. Did you really desire his true love? Or is it just the spirit of our mother you are still jealous of?” Adon asks the witch.
Her jaws clench in anger. “I wish I didn’t need a worthy captive for Luminis to entertain himself killing. I would cut your neck myself!” she hisses.
My father gestures at the angel to be calm before he responds. I am surprised when Adon listens and falls quiet.
I now have to choose between giving out my blood willingly in exchange of a little freedom and having it taken forcibly and locked in here forever. Neither is good. And what is to happen to my mates. She only promised to let my father live.
“I will give you a day to mull over your options since I have an angry angel to free,” Lysandra says.
I little sense of relief washes over me when they all turn and leave.
“You must not agree to be her servant. Your blood will lose it’s power to break her spells,” father advises.
We have lost the war and we are now her captives. What if she might consider letting my mates live if I choose to be her servant? I am not sure that I can bear losing them.
“I am not sure what I will choose. I need my mates to live even after Luminis is free,” I reply.

Queen Andria’s POV
I am growing more and more anxious as Lysandra chants incantations to break the veil that hides the Temple Of Shadows from our world. She pours Ira’s precious blood on the ground and the red liquid disappears instantly like the ground was thirsty for it.
The forest around us is dark and eerily, making it look like we are standing on a path to hell. An open gate of stones and concrete sets before us in a clear field surrounded by dense trees. Several bodies of dead slaves lay behind us, sacrifices that had to be made to please the powerful spirits that guard the Temple Of Shadows. Yet nothing would have worked without the blood of the precious Princess of Levitra.
I am not sure I want to repay the witch in this manner. What kind of man is Luminis? I know that she expects him to cherish me because of my fake appearance, but what if he is a cruel angel? What if he decides cut me open and drain my blood? He will not realize that it bears no power until it’s too late. I really am not ready to die in that manner. Perhaps if I went back to my father’s palace he can pay the witch for saving me and I can wait for my own mate. Someone who will love me for real.
It’s not too late to change my mind, is it?
“I knew the kind of crook you’re, woman. There was just no other fool I could use who could have been a more determined in finding Levitts than you,” Luminis snarls.
Her eyes go wide as his hand comes up and grows a shadowy extension that shoots towards her, getting longer and longer until strange fingers wraps tightly around the witch’s neck. Life drains out of her, traveling through the dark angel’s magical hand like a bright light and disappearing into him at the first contact it gets with his pale skin.
Lysandra’s body is left dark and hollow. Even her eyes are gone and so is most of her fresh. She drops to the ground, making us all tremble in fear. The witch is dead!
Everyone including members of her coven take off running. I try to do the same but she made me wear a flowing gown to please the monster that just killed her.
I trip and fall while others manage to get away. I am still struggling to get up when Luminis strides closer and I feel his magical hand on my neck.
I try screaming but nothing comes out. The hand pulls me back to my feet then closer to him. He inhales deeply, as in smelling my blood.
“You’re a foul, disguised creature that she intended to fool me with,” he scoffs. “You shouldn’t have known better.”
“I… did not want this either. Lysand- “I try speaking to defend myself, but feel my neck snap.
