Chapter 104
Zoya’s punch came fast and brutal. It was completely unexpected!
Her fist landed squarely in Logan’s abdomen.
If Logan hadn’t been trained himself, he might have been sent flying by Zoya’s blow. Even so, he staggered backward several steps before regaining his balance.
He grabbed his gut on reflex, the ache a dead giveaway. He’d actually just been punched by the woman right in front of him, the one who looked so upright and proper.
Logan suddenly burst out laughing, his gaze turning sinister as he looked at Zoya. “Looks like you seriously have no idea who you’re dealing with, do you? Are you even aware what price you’re about to pay for that punch?”
Zoya raised an eyebrow, then turned toward Wren. “You promised you’d have your legal team protect me, right?”
Wren was still frozen in shock. Zoya had warned him before that if she ever met his father, she’d punch him once, but he hadn’t thought she’d actually go through with it. And so decisively.
“Yeah,” he managed after a long pause, still kind of stunned.
Only then did Zoya turn back to Logan. “So tell me. Does punching you once cost the same as giving you a full beating?”
“What?” Logan’s expression flickered with rare surprise.
The next moment, Zoya lunged forward again, raining down blows on him.
Logan quickly moved to defend himself, but her attacks were far beyond his expectations.
Her strikes were fast, fierce, and precise. She was sharper than most of the male bodyguards he employed.
And she deliberately aimed for spots that wouldn’t cause lasting injury, but hurt like hell.
Within moments, Logan had taken several solid hits.
It had been years since anyone had managed to make him suffer like this.
Just as Zoya’s fist landed hard on him again, Logan finally swung back, his own punch arcing toward her.
But right at that moment, a figure darted between them, grabbing Logan’s fist in a firm grip and putting the fight on pause.
“Why the hell are you fighting? Don’t you realize if you throw a punch, he’s gonna hit you right back?” Wren growled at Zoya.
If he hadn’t stepped in, Logan’s punch would’ve landed right on her face.
“I know,” Zoya replied, cool as ever. “But I really just wanted to hit him.”
Even if it meant she’d take a punch herself, she was determined to dish it out and make Logan pay.
“You…” Wren’s eyes flashed with shock as he stared at her.
Logan just cracked up, laughing even harder. “Oh, kid. You just can’t wait to lay one on me, huh? What’s got you so riled up?”
She said coolly, “No reason. You just deserve it.”
Logan’s gaze turned cold. “Are you doing this for Wren?”
“So what if it is?” she shot back.
“If I told you that not even the Richmond family’s lawyers could protect you, what then? Don’t forget, Wren might be head of the family now, but I’m still his father. His position as patriarch isn’t as secure as you think,” Logan warned.
Wren’s expression hardened. “If you dare lay a hand on her, I won’t let you go.”
It was just one simple threat, but Logan could hear the deadly seriousness behind it. His son meant every word.
“You really think she’s worth all this trouble?” Logan arched an eyebrow, his voice tinged with skepticism.
“She is,” Wren said without the slightest hesitation.
For a moment, Logan saw something in his son’s face, a reflection of his younger self.
“That’s my boy, no doubt about it.” Logan laughed. “But Wren, have you ever thought about this? Since you’re my son, your fate’s bound to echo mine. No matter how much you love this woman, one of these days, she’s gonna kick you to the curb like you’re nothing.”
Wren’s face darkened.
Logan spat out the words like a curse, each one dripping with venom. “Even if she cares about you now, what will happen when she learns who you really are?”
He continued, “If she ever figures out just how dark and twisted you are, she’ll want nothing to do with you! You’ll never be loved, Wren. You weren’t meant to be loved. From the very start, your desire for love has been a sin…”
“Enough!” Zoya stormed forward, grabbing Logan by the collar. “You’re his father! How can you say something like that to him?”
“Because I’m his father. I know he never deserved love,” Logan sneered, his smile twisted with cruelty. “Just like you. Even if you’re there for him now, one day you’ll dump him. Guys like him? They were born to be abandoned. That’s his fate, and nothing you do is ever gonna change that.”
Wren stood there, stiff as a board. Every single word that came out of his father’s mouth was like razor-sharp needles stabbing into his ears, leaving him so sick he could almost throw up.
But it didn’t matter anymore. He’d long ago outgrown caring about stuff like this.
No matter what kind of awful stuff Logan threw his way, it didn’t bother him anymore. What really mattered to him was how Zoya would react after hearing all that.
He wondered if her eyes would show disgust when she looked at him again.
The mere thought of her looking at him like that made his heart skip a beat, uneasy and on edge in a way he just couldn’t
control.
“I’m not leaving him. You can shut up now.” Zoya snapped, her voice cold as ice. “How dare you say he doesn’t deserve love? He’s leagues ahead of you, way better than you’ll ever be.”
Wren’s body went rigid, his pupils shrinking with shock as he stared at Zoya, unable to believe what he’d just heard.
“Seriously? You think you could ever love him?” Logan scoffed, his words thick with disbelief.
Yeah, I do love him. Deal with it,” Zoya shot back.
Zoya only realized what she’d just admitted after it spilled out. Her heart skipped a beat.
Zoya squared her shoulders, staring Logan down. “I love Wren, and I’m gonna show you he’s worth it. Someone like you doesn’t deserve to be called a father. Treating your own kid like garbage. Aren’t you scared karma’s gonna catch up with
you?”
“Karma?” Logan sneered.
If losing his wife was karma, then he’d already gotten what was coming to him, stuck in his own private hell forever.
Logan yanked himself free from Zoya’s grasp, a mocking half-smile twisting his lips. “Alright, let’s make a bet. I you’ll leave him sooner or later. People like you always do. You’ll see.”
With that, Logan turned and strode out, not even bothering to look back.
Zoya frowned. When she spun around, she found herself staring straight into Wren’s eyes.
His eyes locked onto hers, shining with happiness, nervousness, and just a hint of fear.

“Zozo, do you really love me? You won’t just walk away from me, will you?” Wren whispered, the words shaky, like he was scared to hear her answer.
