No one expected Zoya to mount the horse.

Everyone was stunned watching this scene unfold. Zoya skillfully pulled on the reins, leaned forward, clamped her legs on the horse’s belly, and galloped away.

That series of smooth moves showed anyone that Zoya’s horsemanship was definitely extraordinary.

Nicolas was stunned. He never would have guessed Zoya could ride a horse.

On horseback, she felt so unfamiliar to him. She had been his wife for three years, yet he didn’t know she could ride like a

pro.

Her blonde hair fluttered in the wind, making her look fearless, like a true warrior.

Meanwhile, in Nicolas’s arms, Jasmine was equally incredulous. ‘How could Zoya possibly ride a horse, let alone such a fiery one?‘

She secretly hoped Zoya would fall off.

But to her disappointment, not only did Zoya stay on, but after a few rounds, the fiery horse seemed tamed and started obeying Zoya’s commands.

When Zoya returned on the black horse, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Zoya had tamed the horse.

The horse stopped, and Zoya dismounted.

Nicolas still couldn’t shake off his surprise. “When… did you learn to ride?”

“Does it matter?” Zoya asked coldly.

Nicolas was left speechless.

Zoya’s gaze fell on Jasmine’s face in Nicolas’s arms. “Riding a horse? No big deal. But if you do it just to impress a man, our goals are really different.”

With that, she handed the reins to a nearby staff member.

Jasmine flushed with anger and shame. Zoya might as well have slapped her right there.

She got a taste of her own medicine–every mean word she said to Zoya came right back at her.

And just like that, Zoya tamed the horse, leaving her speechless with nothing to clap back with.

At that moment, Eowyn ran to Zoya, anxiously checking on her. “Are you okay? Any injuries?”

“I’m fine.” Zoya smiled.

Eowyn finally breathed a sigh of relief. “You really scared me. Rushing to save Wren is one thing, but taming that horse? Do you have any idea how dangerous that was? You could’ve gotten yourself killed here, you know?”

“I’m not gonna bite the dust that easily,” Zoya reassured Eowyn. “Besides, if I hadn’t done something back there, someone really might’ve ended up in trouble.”

Eowyn sighed. Even though Zoya had retired from the military, that sense of duty still made her jump in to protect others

Meanwhile, Gordon was sweating bullets as he rushed up to Wren. “Mr. Richmond, I’m really sorry. I had no idea the horse wasn’t fully tamed. Thank goodness you’re safe, or our family would’ve had hell to pay.”

“Of course,” Wren said coldly. “If it weren’t for Mrs. Mayer stepping in, the Ingram family would’ve been wiped out from Ranard within three months.”

Gordon felt a chill running down his spine.

“So, shouldn’t the Ingram family be thanking Mrs. Mayer properly

“Yes, yes, we definitely will,” Gordon agreed hurriedly.

Wren ignored him and walked straight to Zoya.

Wren added.

“Mrs. Mayer,” he said, standing in front of her. “You know, if you hadn’t come to save me, that horse would’ve been shot dead. in a second.”

Zoya was taken aback, then realized that someone like Wren would have bodyguards ready to take out any threat.

“But…”

“Really, no need. You’re busy,” she said, not wanting this man to disturb her parents‘ peace anymore.

Nicolas didn’t push it.

He was indeed swamped lately, especially with Jasmine needing to stay in the hospital for a few days, which meant more. trips to the hospital for him.

“Alright, next time I’ll join you to see your parents,” he said.

Zoya chuckled inwardly. ‘Too bad, Nicolas, you’ll never get that chance!‘

“Hey, you mentioned you’re an employee at Bluesky Technology at the ranch today. What’s up with that?” Nicolas asked

later.

“Exactly what it sounds like. I joined Bluesky Technology,” Zoya said.

“You don’t have to do this just to spite me. You can come back to the company anytime,” Nicolas said.

Zoya laughed in disbelief. “I joined Bluesky Technology to work, not to make you feel bad. And I don’t plan on coming

back.”

Nicolas frowned. “I’m saying you can come back anytime. What more do you want?”

“What would you want me back at the company for?” Zoya shot back.

“To keep pushing the projects, of course,” Nicolas said. “Rich Group is looking to invest in drone tech companies. You could pick up where you left off on that project.”

“What about Violette? Isn’t she handling that project?” Zoya challenged.

“I can reassign her to other work.”

Zoya gave him a cold look. “Is it because I saved Wren today at the ranch that you think he’d invest in your company out of gratitude if I took over the project?”

Instantly, a flash of embarrassment crossed Nicolas’s face–he’d been seen through.
