Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 180

Chapter 180

Violette froze for a moment, truly not expecting the Lucero family to be made up of unwavering patriots.

“So what if your whole family is full of loyal martyrs? That doesn’t mean you can just force me to apologize right now!” Violette snapped, struggling and yelling.

“Can’t I?” Zoya’s voice was cold as ice. “Since you have said such outrageous words, of course, I can make you confess your sins in front of God.”

As soon as Zoya finished speaking, she shoved Violette’s head down firmly.

Even though Violette fought it with all her will, Zoya’s grip was unyielding, forcing her to apologize before God against her wishes.

Zoya kept Violette on the ground for a long time.

“Let go

of me!” Violette yelled while struggling desperately, her voice trembling with anger and disbelief.

Anica tried to rush over and rescue Violette from Zoya, but Eowyn was blocking her like a wall.

“Zoya, you venomous witch. How could you treat my daughter like this? I’m going to sue you!” Anica yelled angrily.

Eowyn yanked Anica back. “You wanna sue her? Be my guest. Let’s see how you handle it when Zoya drags your precious daughter into a military court and charges her for disrespecting a soldier!”

Anica’s face went pale, and her voice shrank. “She wouldn’t dare.”

Eowyn scoffed, “She wouldn’t dare? You still think Zoya’s some soft little kitten you can bully around? Back when you were her mother-in-law, she let things slide. But now, she doesn’t owe you a damn thing!”

Meanwhile, Zoya still had Violette’s head pressed firmly down, forcing her to stay on the ground.

Zoya finally let go after Violette stayed on the floor for a long while.

Violette struggled to her feet, face red and hair a mess, humiliation burning in her eyes.

Just then, Nicolas called out, “Mom, Violette, what are you-”

His voice abruptly cut off, shock written all over his face as he stared at Zoya standing nearby.

These past few days, he kept thinking of Zoya.

He’d torn the villa apart, trying to find anything she might’ve left behind, but there wasn’t a single thing. It as if she’d never even lived there.

He wanted to find her and beg for forgiveness for everything he’d done to her.

But before he could even start searching for her, fate threw them together right here.

“Nicolas!” The instant Violette saw him, all her fear melted away and her whole demeanor changed.

She dashed over to Nicolas, pointed at Zoya, and wailed, “Nicolas, I barely said anything to Zoya, and she forced me to fall to the ground in front of God!”

“Exactly, Nicolas. Your poor sister has been horribly bullied. Zoya is vicious. You’ve got to avenge Violette!” Anica called out.

The moment Nicolas arrived, Anica instantly felt like she had her strongest ally at her side.

Since Nicolas was the head of a major corporation, Anica believed that he would never let Zoya push them around.

Nicolas was staring at Zoya, so focused on her that he didn’t even notice whatever Anica and Violette were saying.

Zoya’s icy voice rang out. “Nicolas, are you going to back them up?”

“Back them up?” Nicolas was confused.

Zoya said, “Violette insulted me. She said I can’t find my brother because I’ve done too many evil things, and now karma’s come for me. That’s why I made her apologize to God. But I don’t think she’s actually sorry. Maybe she hasn’t had enough yet.”

Nicolas stared at Violette, genuinely stunned. “Did you really say that?”

Violette shouted, “Why can’t I say that? She’s always stirring up trouble. Jasmine wouldn’t have lost her job or been sent to jail if it weren’t for her.

“Seriously, if not for Zoya, Jasmine would be just fine. Nicolas, you could’ve been with Jasmine…”

Nicolas slapped Violette hard across the face, his eyes blazing. “Apologize to Zoya right now!”

Violette clutched her burning cheek, momentarily speechless and stunned.

‘What just happened? No matter how much I trashed Zoya in the past, Nicolas never hit me before. Is he seriously taking her side?’ Violette thought.

“Nicolas, how could you hit Violette? You should’ve slapped Zoya instead!” Anica rushed to check Violette’s reddened cheek.

Nicolas ignored Anica, his eyes locked on Violette. “Apologize now.”

Violette snapped back, stubborn as ever, “I didn’t do anything wrong, so why should I apologize? Zoya’s the one making up stories.

“She is going on and on about her family being some sort of national heroes. Seriously, if her family’s really that amazing, why did you never say anything about it before?”

Violette’s words cut deep, like a slap.

This hurt didn’t show on Nicolas’s skin. It hit him deep down.

He felt a sharp, twisting pain surge through him, raw and unexpected.

Nicolas couldn’t help but think, ‘Yeah, why did I never know? It’s because I never really tried to understand Zoya. I never let myself see who she truly was.

‘Back then, I only married Zoya because Jasmine left for overseas. My family was breathing down my neck, and honestly, I just thought Zoya looked like the “right” choice for a wife.

‘But the truth is, I never really tried to get to know Zoya.

‘Even when she told me her parents had passed away overseas, all I did was offer the usual, meaningless condolences.

‘If only I’d truly bothered to understand her, maybe things wouldn’t have ended with us getting divorced.

“Violette, Zoya never spouted nonsense. You are the one who is making crazy claims. Apologize to her now, or I will cut you off,” Nicolas said.

Violette looked at him like he’d lost his mind. “You’re seriously siding with Zoya? You’d drop your sister just for her?”

“Nicolas, have you gone crazy? How could you possibly be sticking up for Zoya?” Anica snapped.

“Apologize!” Nicolas demanded again, making it absolutely clear he wasn’t backing down.

Violette shrank back nervously, glancing at Nicolas, then Anica, before finally mumbling to Zoya, “Sorry.”

Zoya sneered, “Too late. Violette, you and your mother are still out on bail, aren’t you?

“That case about you hiring someone to drug me in that hotel room is about to go to court soon. Looks like they’ll be adding a charge of disrespecting a veteran to your record!”

Zoya glanced at Eowyn. “You heading back?”

“Yeah,” Eowyn replied with a shrug. She had accomplished her goal anyway.

“Let’s go,” Zoya said and strode off.

Violette’s knees nearly buckled from fear. “Nicolas, I was just mouthing off about Zoya. How did that suddenly become a charge for disrespecting a veteran?”

“Nicolas, Zoya’s totally throwing us under the bus. You can’t just let her walk all over us!” Anica cried out.

Nicolas froze, watching Zoya head for the church exit. Almost without thinking, he rushed after her.

‘I can’t just let her walk out of my life like this!’ Nicolas thought.

There was so much he needed to say to her. He wanted to tell her that he was sorry for everything he did in the past.

As Zoya and Eowyn were about to reach the parking area outside the church, Nicolas came rushing after them.

“Zozo, wait. I need to talk to you!” Nicolas called out.
