Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 182

Chapter 182

“Have you met her current boyfriend?” Leon asked again.

“Boyfriend?” Harvey raised an eyebrow. “Nope. But honestly, with her attitude, it’d be no shock if she’s dating

someone.”

Leon pressed his lips together, thinking. ‘Eowyn could be all warmth with her friends, but she was cold and razor-sharp with anyone she didn’t like.

‘Sure, that got her into trouble sometimes, but it also helped her win people over!

“Uncle Leon, even though Eowyn’s got a boyfriend, you’re still pursuing her?” Harvey couldn’t help but ask.

“What’s the problem with that?” Leon shot back.

Harvey blinked in surprise and said, “But honestly, she’s just not the kind to go back to an ex.”

Leon shot Harvey a frosty glare. “Enough. Get out.”

Harvey shrugged, got up, and made for the door. But when he reached the doorway, he just had to toss out one more parting shot.

He said, “I heard Eowyn say she’s into the younger crowd now. If she really doesn’t see you that way, Uncle Leon, just don’t try to force it.”

Leon stiffened, his grip on the pen pausing mid-motion. He pressed his lips together and remained silent.

After Harvey left, Leon got up and walked over to the bathroom mirror, looking at his own reflection.

He barely looked any different than he did back in the day, but that boyish vibe was long gone.

Leon wondered, ‘Is she really into younger guys?

‘So that’s why, when I checked out her photo album at her place, every single picture was of some young guy.

‘Does her boyfriend now fit that description?

‘If she really isn’t into me, is it finally time to let her go for real?’

The day Jasmine got bailed out thanks to her pregnancy, she called Nicolas, “I really need to see you.”

When Nicolas showed up at Jasmine’s place, her parents were there as well.

The moment Jasmine’s mom spotted Nicolas, she hurried up to him. “Nicolas, Jasmine is counting on you. Whatever it takes, you have to get her the best lawyer and win this thing. She absolutely can’t end up in jail!”

“Relax, Nicolas wouldn’t abandon her. Jasmine’s carrying his baby now. There’s no way he’d ever turn his back

on her,” Jasmine’s dad added.

Back then, even if Nicolas didn’t have a dime, he’d just suck it up and take care of things. But now, things were

different.

“So, how much is your family actually willing to shell out for a lawyer?” Nicolas asked.

“Our family?” Jasmine’s parents looked at each other, caught off guard. “Our relatives have money, but that has nothing to do with us. We barely have any money.

“Jasmine’s uncle ditched us when things hit the fan. Nicolas, you’re not the kind of ungrateful guy who’d just bail on us, right?”

“Ungrateful?” Nicolas spun around, eyes blazing as he glared at Jasmine sitting on the bed. “The Ingram family never did me any favors, so there’s nothing for me to repay.”

“How can you say that? Don’t forget, it was Jasmine who saved your life!” Jasmine’s mom snapped, her voice trembling with anger.

“She saved my life?” Nicolas burst out laughing, almost mocking, pointing right at Jasmine. “How about you ask your dear daughter who actually pulled me out of the river back then?”

Jasmine turned to her parents. “Mom, Dad, could you step out for a bit? I need to talk to Nicolas alone.”

Once her parents left, Jasmine got up from the bed and walked over to Nicolas. “Nicolas, I know there’s been some misunderstanding between us, but my feelings for you are real. Now, we’re going to have a baby.”

As she spoke, she gently pulled his hand down and placed it on her belly. “I’m eight weeks along. Next year, you’ll be a dad.”

But Nicolas yanked his hand back like it had been burned.

Nicolas snapped, “Jasmine, how dare you say that to me? Do you even realize how much you’ve ruined my life?

“If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be divorced, my company would still be running, and I would’ve never touched that damn loan. Now the cops are holding my money for three months. It’s like you want me dead.”

Jasmine said, “No. Why would I ever want to hurt you? I was just trying to get away from Paul’s threats, so I used that plan to get him locked up.

“If Zoya hadn’t suddenly gotten involved, everything would’ve gone smoothly. The money could’ve been back to you in just two weeks.”

Nicolas shot back, “Threats? You bribed Paul into telling me you were the one who saved me, when you knew perfectly well it was Zoya! You lied to me over and over, just watching me let Zoya down again and again.”

“I just figured since you and Zoya are already divorced, there’s no point obsessing over what happened back then. Besides, you love me, right? Why should it matter so much who actually saved your life?” Jasmine said.

Nicolas shot back, “Of course it matters. If you weren’t the one who saved me, then how could I keep hurting

Zoya because of you? Jasmine, do you have any idea how badly you’ve messed up my life?”

“I hurt you?” Jasmine was speechless, staring at Nicolas like she’d just been slapped. She never expected him to say something like that.

“Isn’t that exactly what happened? If you hadn’t pretended to be my savior, I would never have split up with Zoya!” Nicolas shot back, his anger boiling over.

Jasmine snapped, “So now you’re blaming your divorce on me? Nicolas, you were clinging to me like a lovesick puppy as soon as you heard I was back. You jumped at every single call, dropped everything for me, and constantly showered me with gifts.

“If you truly loved Zoya, then how come I could just push you around so easily? Why did you settle for those cheap knockoff wedding bands for the two of you?

“Let’s be real, you never had any respect for Zoya. If I hadn’t been from the Ingram family, or a co-pilot at Cloud Airlines, you’d have probably just thrown me some cash and moved on. But because of who I am, you were desperate to please me.”

Jasmine’s words hit Nicolas hard, each sentence landing like a brutal punch to the gut.

“Shut your mouth!” Nicolas roared, burning with a mix of rage and humiliation. He lunged forward and seized Jasmine by the throat, desperate to choke off her words before she could throw more salt on his wounds.

Jasmine thrashed, her face flushing red as she tried to catch her breath. “Nicolas, are you seriously trying to kill me? If you do, you’ll be a killer. My parents are right outside. You really think you could get away with this?”

Suddenly, Nicolas snapped to his senses, yanking his hand away from her neck as if he’d just touched fire.

Jasmine choked and stumbled to the ground, her hands flying to her throat as she struggled to breathe. She gave Nicolas a stunned, incredulous look.

Jasmine wondered bitterly, ‘I always looked down on this guy. Yet I thought he really loved me.

‘He’d always weigh his options, but when it came to me, he’d always treated me well.

‘I thought that once he found out I was pregnant, he’d just let everything go and act like nothing ever happened-even if I’d lied to him before.’

At that moment, Jasmine realized that maybe he’d never actually loved her.

“Nicolas, how could you try to kill me? You promised you loved me!” Jasmine screamed hoarsely.
