Chapter 183
“Love you?” Nicolas snapped in fury, “Jasmine, after you lied to me like this, how could I ever love you again? If murder didn’t mean jail time, I swear I’d end you.”
“But I’m pregnant with your child. Are you going to kill our baby, too?” Jasmine cried.
Nicolas said icily, “The baby. Yeah, that’s it. That’s exactly why I’m here. Get rid of it. Don’t you dare think can use this baby against me.”
“What? You want me to get rid of the baby?” Jasmine’s eyes widened with shock and disbelief.
“That’s right. Get rid of it. I don’t need this baby. Someone like you isn’t even worthy to bear my child,” Nicolas spat, contempt in his gaze.
Jasmine was stunned.
She thought, ‘Unworthy?
‘Back then, he was the one who wasn’t good enough for me!’
He was just a poor nobody, while she was the Ingram heiress, who was smart, beautiful, with a future that seemed set in stone.
She used to look at him with nothing but contempt. Now, the situation had completely flipped.

Jasmine said through gritted teeth as she struggled to her feet, “I’m not getting rid of this baby. So don’t think you can just walk away.
“If you care so much about your reputation, you’d better find me the best lawyer money can buy. You don’t want the mother of your child ending up as a convicted criminal, do you?”
Nicolas’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “You dare threaten me?”
“I’m just stating the facts,” Jasmine replied calmly.
“I won’t marry you. Don’t think having the baby changes anything. You’ll never join the Mayer family,” Nicolas said coldly.
“Not marry me? So do you actually expect Zoya to take you back? Are you that delusional, thinking she still has feelings for you? That she’ll ever love you again?” Jasmine retorted angrily.
Nicolas’s eyes flashed with sudden realization. He thought, ‘That’s right. Zoya is the key.
‘If Zoya would just come back to me, maybe all my troubles would melt away.
‘As long as Zoya still cares about me…

Eowyn had no clue that Leon would walk in right as she was picking out a few male models to hang out with her at a bar.
The wild party vibe in the VIP room screeched to a halt.
Everyone’s eyes locked onto Leon.
He was the kind of guy that when he showed up, nobody could pretend he wasn’t there.
Leon walked straight up to Eowyn. “So, hitting up bars and booking male models now? Since when did you get into this sort of thing?”
Eowyn rolled her eyes and glanced around.
The VIP room was packed with her company’s employees. They were celebrating landing a new project, so she’d brought the team out for drinks and booked a few male models to liven things up.
Of course, she wasn’t complaining about having some eye candy to enjoy while she drank.
But before any of the guys could even get comfortable next to her, Leon showed up unannounced.
“What brings you here?” Eowyn shot back, dodging his question.
“I asked first. So you should answer me,” Leon replied, not backing down.
“Ms. Sanford, who is he?” someone asked.
Eowyn frowned. “Just a lawyer I happen to know.”
With that, she stood up, grabbed Leon by the arm, and led him out of the VIP room.
Once they were outside, Eowyn whipped around and fixed Leon with a fierce glare. “Seriously, why are you here?”
“I asked first. You answer me,” Leon drawled, totally unfazed.
Eowyn felt her temper flare. Dealing with Leon could really drive her up the wall. ‘How did I ever end up dating a guy like this?’ she grumbled inwardly.
But then her gaze settled on his annoyingly handsome face, and just like that, the answer hit her.
She muttered to herself, ‘It’s always been that damn face.
‘Damn, good looks really are a trap!
“Honestly, booking male models at a bar is pretty normal. It’s just some harmless fun. Started doing it once I had money to blow. Isn’t that what cash is for? To make life more comfortable and actually enjoy yourself?” Eowyn said.
“So hiring some guys to keep you company really does it for you?” Leon said.

“Of course. It’s great, especially when you get all sorts-take your pick, whatever you’re into,” Eowyn replied.
“And your boyfriend doesn’t mind?” Leon asked, locking his gaze onto her.
“Not at all-I told you, he’s pretty generous about these things,” Eowyn replied with a playful smile.
Leon’s dark eyes narrowed as he stepped closer to her.
Eowyn instinctively backed away, trying to keep some distance, but Leon only advanced, closing in even
more.
In seconds, her back was pressed against the hallway wall-she had nowhere left to retreat.
“Eowyn, are you sure you really have a boyfriend?” Leon murmured, his gaze sharp and full of challenge as he looked down at her.
He looked like he could read her mind with his eyes. For a second, Eowyn seriously considered just blindfolding Leon and dragging him into bed for a proper round of revenge. Then, she forced herself to stop that dangerous thought.
After a quick mental pep talk, Eowyn met his gaze head-on. “Of course I do. Why would I lie to you?”
Leon studied her, as if trying to figure out if she was telling the truth.
After a moment, Leon stepped back and lit a cigarette. He took a few slow drags, then just let it burn in his hand, the smoke curling between his fingers like his bottled-up words.
Eowyn couldn’t help but admit that even with a cigarette, he looked straight out of a movie poster.
But no matter how attractive Leon was, she wasn’t going to let herself get caught up in those feelings again.
Eowyn said, “Take your time with that smoke, Leon. My staff’s still waiting for me.”
Just as Eowyn turned to leave, Leon suddenly called out behind her.
“I don’t care who your boyfriend is. Break up with him and get back together with me,” he said.
Eowyn gave a short laugh. “Not happening.”
“Why?” Leon jolted, nearly dropping his cigarette.
Eowyn said breezily, “Because I like my boyfriend. Leon, don’t you think you’re full of yourself? Who do you think you are? I’m not the type to circle back for leftovers. Besides, there are plenty of guys out there for me
now.”
‘Put simply, if someone else wants to go for this old flame, be my guest. As for me, I’m never going back,’ Eowyn thought to herself.
With that, Eowyn just headed straight back into the VIP room, not sparing Leon so much as a glance as he stood there, looking completely crestfallen.

The next day at work, Zoya overheard her colleagues gossiping about a hot lawyer who showed up at the bar last night.
Rumors were flying about what was going on between him and Eowyn.
“Leon came to see you last night?” Zoya asked. She hadn’t gone to the bar because Wren had been clinging to her, so she’d missed all the drama.
“Yep,” Eowyn replied.
“So, what did he come looking for?” Zoya asked.
“He said he wants to get back together,” Eowyn answered.
Zoya blinked in surprise. “And what did you say?”
“Obviously, I turned him down. I’m just not into him anymore-he’s totally out of my system,” Eowyn replied with a casual smile.
“Whatever you decide, I’ve got your back. If he gives you any trouble, just say the word. I’ll handle it,” Zoya said.
“Relax, Leon’s not the clingy type. He’s way too proud for that. After getting shot down like that, there’s no chance he’ll come crawling back,” Eowyn replied.
Just as they were chatting, a secretary popped in. “Zoya, Mr. Mayer from Mayer Technology is at the front desk. He says he wants to see you.”
