Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Zoya’s body went rigid. “The voice belongs to Harvey, my little shadow from the barracks.

Unlike others, who called her “Captain” in formal situations, privately Harvey alone called her “Zoya.”

Zoya looked up at the neat, elegant face before her. The features that had once been a little boyish in her memory had matured over three years.

And the youthful flare had become a quieter restraint.

After the explosion at the mall, Zoya called Harvey. He contacted people and evacuated the shoppers. That call had been their first in three years.

Zoya had thought it would be a while before seeing him again. Unexpectedly, they met like this, out of the blue.

“Why are you here with Eowyn?” Zoya asked in surprise.

“You tell me,” Eowyn said with a grimace. “Yesterday, when he learned what happened to you and couldn’t get through your phone, he went crazy trying to find me.”

If Zoya hadn’t finally picked up and came out of the hospital, Harvey would have run straight to the military district and dragged the army to the hospital to get her out.

Zoya pressed her lips together. ‘So many people know about what happened yesterday. Even if Harvey hasn’t been at the party, it won’t be surprising that he found out.

“Alright, I’m fine,” Zoya said, patting Harvey’s shoulder. Still he held her tightly and didn’t let go.

“My clothes are all sweaty. I haven’t showered yet. It’s gross. Stop hugging me so much, let go,” Zoya urged.

“Do you know how worried I was last night?” Harvey said softly. “And how much I hate myself for not seeing sooner that you wanted to marry Nicolas. If I had stopped you before you married him, you wouldn’t have gone through this.”

His voice cut off and Harvey did not finish.

Zoya forced a bitter smile. If she could, she would have preferred never to have married Nicolas.

At that moment, her stomach gave a loud gurgle.

“You hungry?” Harvey finally let her go.

“Yeah, pretty hungry,” Zoya replied. She thought about it and realized she hadn’t eaten much since yesterday afternoon.

“Okay then. Since Zoya’s all right now, let’s find somewhere to sit and get some food,” Eowyn suggested.

The three of them got into a car and left the hospital. Not far away, in a parked silver Maybach, Wren watched their car pull

away.

Seeing her embraced by another man had made Wren uncomfortable, like a toy he wanted being taken away.

Wren looked at his right hand. Yesterday, that hand gripped Zoya’s wrist tightly.

He closed his palm slowly, thinking, “Things I want are never taken from me!

They arrived at a downtown restaurant. After taking a seat, Zoya called the police to say she would come by later to give a

statement.

When Zoya had nearly finished, Harvey suddenly asked, “When do you plan to divorce him?”

Both Zoya and Eowyn looked at Harvey in surprise. Because nobody had told Harvey about her intention to divorce.

Harvey narrowed his eyes, his voice sharp. “Listen, after what happened, you still aren’t planning to divorce? Do you really love Nicolas that much, love him enough to put up with other women and how his family treated you?”

Zoya was silent.

Harvey grew angrier. “What does Nicolas have that’s so great? Why are you clinging to him? There are other men in the world. A woman like you, he doesn’t deserve you. Want me to go and force him to divorce you?”

“I will divorce him,” Zoya said.

Harvey, whose face had been full of anger, went quiet suddenly.

“Yes, I will divorce him,” Zoya repeated, looking at the ring finger on her right hand.

The wedding band she had worn was long gone.

“Like you said, there’s nothing special about Nicolas, so of course I don’t miss him,” Zoya murmured.

Zoya thought bitterly, “The man who comforted and warmed me after my parents died had vanished three years ago.

‘Meanwhile, the feelings for him has gradually faded through repeated disappointments.

‘Now, there is nothing left.
