Harvey’s eyes lit up instantly. “You got it. I can find you the best legal team to handle the divorce,” he said.

“Thanks, but I’ll handle it myself,” Zoya replied.

Harvey frowned. “What’s holding you back?”

“It’s not that. I just don’t want this divorce to drag on,” Zoya said. She knew that once it went to court, it wouldn’t be settled quickly. “If I really run into trouble and need help, I’ll ask you.”

His frown finally eased. “Alright then. I’ll wait for your good news.”

After they finished eating. Zoya went to the police station to give her statement. Eowyn and Harvey insisted on accompanying her. Eowyn, as a witness at the party, also gave a statement.

Zoya learned from the police that Violette and Anica were currently detained and would require high bail for release.

The two men who had tried to attack Zoya had both admitted that they were acting on Violette and Anica’s orders.

As for Jasmine, since there was no concrete evidence against her, she gave a statement at the police station and wasn’t detained.

After leaving the police station, Zoya planned to take a taxi home. “I’ll drive you back,” Harvey said.

Taking a cab is easier for me. Besides, I’ve already taken up enough of your time today,” Zoya said.

“Let me drive you,” Harvey insisted. “Or do you hate me, Zoya? Don’t want me to give you a ride?”

Zoya looked at Harvey. He had been sent to the military camp for training at 22.

From being a prickly, easily provoked brat to the mature, steady man before her now, she could feel the passage of time reflected in him.

“Don’t talk nonsense. I’ve never hated you, not since the day you entered the camp,” Zoya said.

A smile spread across Harvey’s lips. “Then let me give you a ride.”

Zoya sighed and said to Eowyn, “You can go back first. Harvey will take me home.”

Eowyn nodded, watching the tall, well–built Harvey open the car door for Zoya like an eager lackey, and shrugged.

If the rich heirs of Ranard City who know Harvey saw the little tyrant they talk about turning into an obedient puppy in front of Zoya, I wonder what they’d think,‘ she mused.

Harvey drove Zoya to the entrance of her home. “So you live here? It’s not far from my place,” he said. Yet, despite being so close, they hadn’t seen each other once in these three years.

“Ranard City isn’t that big,” Zoya replied.

“Then I’ll come find you here later,” Harvey said.

“Better not, Zoya said.

Harvey’s face fell but then brightened at her next words. She continued, “I’m planning to move. I won’t live here anymore.”

“Alright. When it’s time to move, give me a shout. I’ll come help,” Harvey said cheerfully. After saying goodbye to Harvey, Zoya entered the house.

As soon as she walked in, she saw Nicolas standing by the door, glaring at her with a cold expression. “Who drove you home? Wren?”

me?

“If they had succeeded yesterday, do you have any idea what would have happened to me?

“Two strange men would have had their way with me. It would be horrible for me. Your mom would have watched, secretly pleased. Violette would have filmed the whole thing and spread it online.

“All to make me leave with nothing. Would you still be asking me to understand them then? To forgive them?”

Zoya’s questions left Nicolas speechless. Her disappointed and cold eyes made his chest ache as if it had been hit by something.

After a while, he said hoarsely, “I promise this won’t happen again. Just this once, forgive them. My mom is old and can’t handle stress. Violette is young and can’t have a criminal record.”

Zoya pursed her lips indifferently. “So, I’m the one who’s supposed to be sacrificed?”

Nicolas suddenly felt a pang of anxiety. Her indifference made him feel that she was about to leave him.

“Zoya, I’ll treat you well. I’ll be even better to you from now on,” he said, stepping forward to hug her.

Zoya leaned against him. Nicolas had said the same thing to her when he proposed. He had promised to treat her well, to be even better. But he had never kept his word. And she had been foolishly moved.

Zoya pushed him away and said calmly, “Nicolas, I’ll move out. Let’s not see each other again until we’re officially divorced.”
