Chapter 173 Huggies
finished
Agares’s arm was still raised, his hand halfway outstretched as if he might grab her. Then he stepped back.
She stepped forward. Her crimson eyes burned hotter, almost bleeding at the edges. Her voice came out rough and scorched, like it had been dragged across burning coal. “Your Highness, hug me.”
Agares drew a sharp breath. His hand began to pull back, his foot ready to retreat again.
But Sylvara moved first. Her hand shot out like lightning, catching his arm before he could move. She pulled it across her shoulder, grabbed his hand, and dragged herself into his chest.
She exhaled a long, shuddering breath, the sound deep and low like a cat’s growl. “Your Highness, your body feels so warm.”
Agares’s pupils tightened. Every muscle in his body locked up. Holding her felt like having a living inferno pressed against him, hot enough to burn through his bones.
“What the hell?” Carlos stared in shock and turned to Rainy. “Why isn’t Mr. Vaelor tossing her off him? He’s actually holding her!”
Rainy’s paint-smeared face looked just as horrified. His voice trembled. “That’s what you’re worried about? She called him honey. And he’s got a wife back home. If this gets out, our Legion’s reputation is done for!”
Bane slapped Rainy on the back of the head. “Shut it. Ms. Feywin just got struck by lightning. Of course she’s a little out of it.
“If it were you, there wouldn’t even be dust left. You wouldn’t be here running your mouth about it, that’s for sure.”
“Ms. Feywin, wait-”
“Your Highness! Don’t move, I just need to cool off!” Sylvara cut him short. She pressed her face against his chest, her eyes shut tight as her fevered skin rubbed against him.
Agares felt the heat seep straight through his armor. Her grip on his wrist burned, her touch almost blistering.
She kept rubbing against him like she could put out her own flames. Zolensky and Bane still had Veyric pinned, but he twisted violently and broke free.
