The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 468

Dylan’s expression darkened even further. “Raina, watch your mouth. Don’t forget, you have a child. Is this really the kind of example you want to set for your kid?”

Rebecca could tell he was genuinely upset, so she dropped the teasing. Sticking out her tongue in mock remorse, she said, “Alright, Mr. Austin, I’m sorry. Don’t be mad—I was just joking.”

Her quick apology, paired with that soft, playfully pleading tone, made something inside Dylan stir.

He stayed silent for a moment before responding coldly, “Don’t make jokes like that again.”

There was still an edge to his voice, but most of the anger had faded.

Rebecca nodded. “Understood, Mr. Austin. But are you really not going to take the bed? If you stay in that chair all night, you’ll wreck your back.”

Dylan shook his head. “I’m fine. You just get some sleep.”

Rebecca knew he was a man of integrity and strict principles. If he’d decided to spend the night in the chair, nothing would change his mind. In that moment, she couldn’t help but admit—Dylan really was quite a catch.

Wealthy, handsome, competent, and so much self-control.

Well, except in that one department.

Practically perfect.

She gave up trying to convince him, pulled the blanket over herself, and closed her eyes, hoping to drift off.

But then a commotion started up in the next room. A young couple was shamelessly flirting and giggling, their playful laughter echoing through the thin wall.

At first, it was just annoying. But soon enough, things escalated—thuds on the bed, the unmistakable sound of springs squeaking, and noises that left little to the imagination.

Anyone older than sixteen could tell exactly what was happening.

Rebecca felt like she was going to lose her mind. Who knew the walls in this place were so thin?
