Just as Rebecca drew near, the car shot away with a whoosh.

It kicked up a cloud of dust.

She froze, standing there utterly confused as she watched the car drive off into the distance.

What was Dennis playing at? Why come all this way just to leave?

She asked a nearby guard, “Did Dennis say anything?”

The guard shook his head. “No.”

Rebecca found it strange but didn’t dwell on it. She figured Dennis must have had something urgent come up.

Inside the car, there was dead silence, broken only by the low hum of the engine.

Dennis was confused. “Mr. Austin, since we were already here, why did we leave?”

Dylan’s face was a cold mask as he remained silent.

He felt like he’d been played for a fool all this time. His wife was right beside him, and he hadn't even recognized her.

While he blamed himself for being blind, he also thought, couldn't she have just told him?

Did she find it amusing, watching him act like an idiot every day?

Especially that time at the hotel when she flirted with him—was she secretly laughing at him then, too?
