Piper
Henry is everything I’ve ever wanted in a mate. He’s intelligent, kind, funny, and he doesn’t care who knows how much he adores me.
When we walk into the restaurant, I immediately feel uncomfortable.
“I knew I was underdressed,” I say quietly.
Henry stops and looks at me. “Do you want my shirt?”
Ifrown at him. “Do you have another one?”
“No, but then you won’t feel underdressed sitting with me.”
When I just stare at him, he reaches down to pull his shirt out of his pants.
“No!” I say, grabbing his hand before he can strip in the middle of this upscale restaurant. “I guess if they don’t like what I’m wearing, they can kick us out.”
“They don’t care that you’re wearing jeans, Piper. They care that we can pay,” he says, wrapping his arm aorund my waist and stepping up to the hostess stand.I
“Alpha Henry Bishop. I called earlier for a table. We’re early. We’ll go to the bar and have a drink while we wait.” “Alpha, of course. As soon as your table is ready, ‘ll come get you.”
“Thank you,” he says. His hand never leaves my waist as he’s talking to the shifter who is obviously flustered that Henry is an Alpha. She either gets flustered easily in the presence of Alphas or he didn’t identify himself as an Alpha when he called earlier.
He leads me to the bar and pulls out a chair for me, before sitting beside me. I grin at him.
“What?” he asks.
“How very old fashioned of you, opening doors and pulling out chairs for a woman,” I say.
He leans forward, his hand covering mine. He’s close enough that I can feel the heat of his body through my blouse. “I call it being a gentleman.”
The bartender comes over and asks what we’d like to drink. I don’t look away from Henry, as my grin widens.” Given my company, ‘ll have an Old Fashioned.”
Henry bursts out laughing. “Make it two.”
Goddess, this man is ridiculously attractive. And when he laughs, his face is so boyish it makes him look years younger than he is. He’s the kind of man who will still have a boyish grin when his hair is silver and he has wrinkles around his eyes. He’s also the kind of man who will father pups that that have that same boyish grin, thekind that pack members will swoon over. The kind that would melt my heart if it was my child.
“How old are you anyway?” I ask.
“Oh good, we’re starting the game. I’m thirty-three years old. Where’s your mother?”
I hadn’t intended to start the game, but I did agree to it.
“Dead. How did you do that flip move on me?” It’s making me crazy. I haven’t been able to figure it out.
“It’s eighty percent core strength. How’s your relationship with your father?” he asks as the bartender slides our drinks to us.
“Terrible. What’s the other twenty percent?”
“Momentum and upper body strength. What about your brothers?”
“My older brother is just as bad as my father, my two younger brothers, not much better. What do you mean momentum?”
It feels like we’re speed dating, but have to admit, it’s kind of fun.
“You have to swing your legs up using your core. Keep your chin tucked, and when your weight is almost to your shoulders, push up with your arms. Use your core to keep your body straight in the handstand, then you can go in whatever direction you want. What made you decide tobecome an elite warrior?”
“I hadn’t met my mate, and I was tired of living under the sexist thumb of my father and brother. I learned to fight hard when I was young, in an effort to please my father for having the audacity of being born a girl. Now I know that I could never please him, so I’m working to please myself.
Do you really like pups as much as you seem to?”
“I adore them, but I would adore them more if they were ours. What’s your favorite sexual position?”
I open my mouth to answer, then stop. We’d been going back and forth so fast that I hadn’t even been thinking about my answers, I was just answering. But this time, his question had come with a wicked smile.
I narrow my eyes at him, then lean forward. “I like being on top. I’m all Alpha, Henry. I like having control and I like being the one to make my partner come,” I whisper. I’m rewarded by watching his eyes darken and then flash as Tyrus pushes forward before Henry pulls him back. “So, you are trying to get me in bed?”
“I wouldn’t say no to burning in your hellfire. And if you ever want to ride me, all you have to do is ask.”
