Henry
When we arrive at the pack, my Beta, Dallas, and my Gamma, Knox, are there to greet me. They’re both younger than I am. Knox found his mate, Sissy, when he turned eighteen, but Dallas hasn’t yet found his.
I park and get out of the car, nodding to my Beta and Gamma before going to get the bags out of the trunk. My head is spinning and the last thing I want to do is have to pretend with my pack and introduce them to Justine.
Justine gets out of the car and looks around, stretching and taking her time.
“This way,” I say as I pass her.
“Alpha, welcome home,” Dallas says.
“Thank you. Justine, this is my Beta, Dallas, and my Gamma, Knox. Guys, this is my … friend, Justine.”
“Oh, we’re more than friends, Henry,” she says, walking up beside me. She starts to wrap her arm through mine, but I move, pulling away from her before she can touch me and send Tyrus into another snarling fit.
Dallas and Knox look at me, then at Justine.
“Hello, Justine. I’m Beta Dallas.”
“And I’m Gamma Knox. My mate is around here somewhere.”
“I look forward to getting to know her,” Justine says.
“Let’s get you settled in your room, Justine. I need to speak with my father.”
“Do you…. need anything, Alpha?” Dallas asks, still looking between us. Obviously, he knew why I was bringing Justine here and now I’m acting less than excited to have her here.
“No, thank you.”
I lead Justine up the stairs to the Alpha floor. I see her looking around, assessing the pack, but I no longer care
– what she thinks of my pack. My mind is spinning with what I need to do to get my mate to at least talk to me.
When we get to my floor, I walk her past my room to the room beside me. I open the door and step inside, setting her bags on the floor.
“You should have everything you need, but if there’s anything else that you need, please let me know,” I say, looking over the room quickly to make sure that it’s in order. It’s a bit stuffy, needing to be aired out. Obviously, my omegas assumed that Justine would be in my room.
“I’m not sharing a room with you, Henry?” Justine asks.
I turn and look at her. “No, Justine. I found my fated mate.
I don’t know if she could feel it if we were together, but I’m not taking that risk. I will not be intimate with you again. That includes kissing.”
Honestly, now that I’ve had Piper in my arms, now that I’ve seen the fire in her eyes, I don’t think I could ever be with Justine again.
She sighs. “If you had just accepted her rejection, Henry…”
“Stop, Justine. You’re here against my better judgement.
Don’t give me a reason to take you home. Get settled,”! say looking at my watch. “Dinner is from five to seven. I’ll come back to get you after I speak to my father.” T
With that, I turn, closing the door behind me. I drop my bag off in my room, then open the mind link to my father.
Dad, I need to speak with you. It’s important, I say.
‘Farrah and I are in our home, Henry. I didn’t realize you had returned.’
I’ll come to you, I say, before closing the mind link.
I grab my phone as I jog down the stairs. I quickly shoot off a text to Quirin.
Me: I need to see you. When are you available?
When I reach the bottom of the stairs, Dallas falls into step beside me.
“Alpha, what’s going on?” he says quietly.
I sigh. “Walk with me,” I say, not wanting the others in thepackhouse to hear.
Once we’re outside, I tell my Beta what happened.
