The Pack's Luna: The Pack Series Book 4 novel Chapter 9

Piper

“Please, Piper! You’re the reason I’m here. I’ve never been anywhere that I felt so at home. It’s not going to be a big ceremony, just something simple with me accepting Alpha Quirin as my Alpha. It would mean a lot to me if you’d come.”

I sigh. How can I say no? Honestly, I’m thrilled that my friend is willing to join Alpha Quirin’s pack. She’ll be off the streets and safe.

“What day are you going to do it?” I ask.

“EEK! Is that a yes? I’ll tell him I want to do it on Saturday.

That way, you can come early in the morning and stay until Sunday. I can introduce you to some people. I’ve already made friends, Piper.”

“Vivienne, if you’ve made friends and you still tell me that I’m NOT your friend, I’m going to come to your pack just to kick you ass all over Alpha Quirin’s pack lands.”

Vivienne laughs. She actually laughs. I’m not sure Ive ever heard her laugh before. It feels so good to hear her happy.

I can’t believe how much her life has changed so quickly.

Ha! Who am I kidding. Mine has drastically changed as well.

“You’re my BEST friend, Piper. You’re the only person who insisted on being my friend even when I didn’t want you to be. I’ll never be able to repay you, Piper. The people here. they understand me in ways that no one ever has. Even Alpha Quirin. I’m still adjusting to Luna Kennedy. She’s ALWAYS hügging people, but it kind of works. She’s very genuine so you know it comes from the heart. She and her mom, Luna Yara, they looked me over physically. I had some scars and some injuries that weren’t healing. They’re healing now, Piper. It’s amazing. And Sigrid is getting stronger every day.”

It’s more words than I’ve ever heard my friend speak at once and said in an excited tone that I’ve never heard from her before. My heart might be breaking because I met my mate and he’s with another. But hearing my friend so happy makes my aching heart feel a bit better.

“I’m so glad, Viv. You’ve deserved a place to call home. I know you were against the packs, but I’m glad you’ve found a place where you can feel safe.”

“I do. And you were right about Alpha Quirin. At first, I was terrified by him, but then I saw him with his pups. And don’t even get me started on seeing him with his Luna.

The pack adores him. All of them have a story about coming here. All of them had lives that were similar to mine. And he’s accepted every one of them. His only requirement is that you accept his mate as your Luna. And while it’s weird for me to be hugged, from her and even from her mother, it just feels right.”

“How can I say no,

” I say. I had planned to go to Yorick and

Cyra’s pack this weekend, just to get away, but watching Vivienne accept Alpha Quirin as her Alpha will be worth it.

And since Henry will be busy with his new mate, I won’t have to worry about seeing him there.

“Well, it will give me.a chance to test my skills against Alpha Quirin and his little hellion pups,” I say, smiling at the thought of Kaylee and Kendra.

“Oh, those pups! Holy Mother Moon Goddess, Piper. I’ve never seen pups so deadly at such a young age. And the other half of their quads, Quinlee and Quilla? They held my hands while Luna Yara and Luna Kennedy looked me over, telling me everything was going to alright. As lethal as the one set of twins is, the other is so sweet and kind.”

| laugh. “Yeah, one set of twins took after their father, and the other took after their mother.”

Vivienne laughs too. “And there’s no question which one is which. So, I’ll see you Saturday?”

“Yeah, I’ll see you Saturday. I’ll call you when I leave here.

It’ll be sometime before lunch.”

“Thanks, Piper! It really means a lot to me.”

“You’re welcome.”

Henry POV

“Henry, help me understand why you brought that woman here if you have no intention of making her your Luna?

What good is going to come from having her here?” my father asks.”Yd committed to having her here,” I begin.

*To see if she was right to take as your chosen mate. Now, there’s no reason to have her here.”

I begin pacing, unable to sit. “What was I supposed to do? l told her and her Alpha I was bringing her here for a week.”

“You tell them that you’ve found your fated mate and things have changed!” he booms at me.

I run my fingers through my hair, tugging on it. I’ve never felt so twisted up inside before.

“Henry, why don’t you tell us about your mate. You said you met her at the Academy?” Farrah says quietly.

I nod and when I open my eyes, I realize she’s put her hand on my father’s shoulder, helping to calm him.

I smile when I think of my mate. “She’s incredible. Yorick said she’s training to become an elite fighter. I felt it when she punched me.”

“She punched you?” Farrah asks, shocked.

Well, it obviously wasn’t the best first impression, since Justine was there with me. She tried to reject me, but wouldn’t let her. I had her in my arms and she told me to let go. When I didn’t, she let me know she meant business.”

I smile, rubbing my stomach that is still sore from the powerful punch. A punch that Yorick said isn’t any where close to her full strength. You deserve the pain, Tyrus says, but he’s purring in m head at the memory of our mate’s fire and strength:

“Do we get her name?” my father asks.

“Piper.”
