Amanda had just finished her scar removal treatment.

Dr. King gave her a gentle smile. “The marks are barely there now. Just come back every couple of months for a little maintenance, and you’ll be good as new.”

Amanda couldn’t hide her excitement. She loved looking her best and definitely didn’t want any scars spoiling her skin. “Thank you so much, Dr. King! You’re honestly a miracle worker.”

Dr. King laughed at that. “You’re giving me too much credit. If anyone deserves praise, it’s Mr. Hill. He really went all out for you.”

The clinic was packed with top–of–the–line equipment, but the device Dr. King used on Amanda was something else. There were only two in the whole world, and Travis had managed to bring them both here. If that didn’t show how much he cared, nothing did.

Amanda smiled, but she didn’t say anything. There was a time she believed Travis had done all this for her. But she wasn’t that naive anymore. Sure, he did it for her, but only because the scar was his fault in the first place. He felt obligated, maybe even guilty, and it had nothing to do with love. She wasn’t about to fool herself again.

She waved goodbye. “I’m heading out. Let’s grab dinner together sometime.”

“Sounds great. Take care!” Dr. King called after her.

As Amanda stepped out of the treatment room, she glanced around the waiting area. No sign of

Travis.

He left? Even better.

She honestly didn’t want to see him. As for her phone and purse, she could always come back for them if she had to. She was ready to leave.

“Amanda?”

A voice called out from ahead. Amanda stopped in her tracks, her eyebrows lifting in surprise when

she saw who it was.

Olivia.

Her father’s illegitimate daughter.

And it looked like Olivia just had some kind of laser facial. There were also obvious traces of filler and injections on her face, Amanda couldn’t help but smirk.

She flashed a bright, innocent smile. “Medical aesthetics are important, you know. Wouldn’t want to scare people with that face.”

“Amanda!” Olivia’s features twisted with anger, which only made the recent injections look even more obvious and awkward.

Amanda held up her hands. “Easy there. You don’t want your face to freeze like that.”
