Amanda’s eyes lit up as she grinned. “Told you I never recommend anything bad.”
“Yeah, Amanda’s seal of approval–you can always trust it.”
They shared a look, both smiling, the mood between them so easy and warm it felt like the whole room glowed.
What Amanda didn’t know was that someone in the private booth next to theirs had been watching the whole time, snapping photos of every little interaction.
Those photos were already on their way to Travis.
James had just gotten bailed out of the police station, still fuming, and had dragged his buddy Milo out for dinner to blow off some steam. Milo, never one to eat alone if he could help it, had already called up a few pretty girls to join them.
Stepping out to make a quick call, Milo spotted Amanda and Shane through the glass. Just the two of them, dinner for two, a flickering candle in the middle. And Amanda was smiling at Shane with this look that was way too flirty to ignore.
Milo couldn’t let it go. He hurried back and knocked on the door of their private room. “James, come out here! Look. Amanda’s having dinner with some guy.”
“Amanda?” Just hearing her name set James off. He rushed out without thinking.
Sure enough, it was her. He’d know Amanda anywhere.
Milo raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying the drama. “James, I’ve been out of town for a bit. Just heard Amanda and Travis called off their engagement party. Does that mean they broke up?”
Canceling an engagement party was a big deal. Something must’ve gone down between Travis and Amanda. And with Amanda sitting there, flirting with some other guy, it was pretty obvious she was on the hunt for a new boyfriend.
If Travis really had broken up with Amanda, Milo was more than ready to swoop in. He’d be her rebound in a heartbeat. Honestly, he’d always been curious about any woman Travis had dated. And Amanda was stunning. There weren’t many guys who could resist her.
As long as she’d been Travis‘ girl, Milo never dared to make a move. But if she was single now, all bets were off.
James kicked Milo hard in the shin. “Don’t be stupid. Travis and Amanda are still together.”
Didn’t matter what Travis thought of Amanda. While she still had Travis‘ Girlfriend label attached to her, nobody else could touch her. That would just be asking for trouble.
Milo looked shocked. “Still together? Then what’s that?” He nodded in Amanda’s direction.
How could they still be together when Amanda was out to dinner with another guy? And right then, Shane took out a handkerchief and, gentle as anything, wiped the corner of Amanda’s mouth. It was intimate–almost like they were a couple.
James didn’t hesitate. He whipped out his phone and snapped a picture. It was a perfect shot:
