George wanted to say yes but he wasn’t sure about Tim and Ashley. Tim immediately said, “Thank you, Miss Mond, but we have other plans.”

Tanya frowned. “Mr. Reed…” She hadn’t expected him to be so unyielding. She glanced at Ashley, who responded with a cold stare. Tanya looked away. She didn’t understand what made Ashley so special to Tim.

Tanya smiled. “Okay. Next time, then.” She left without looking back.

George felt ignored.”Miss Mond can be quite arrogant.” While she had reason to be, Chase, the real boss, remained polite and respectful.

Tim shrugged.”I see it too.” Tanya acted as if Speed was her domain. She was arrogant even without Chase’s backing.

Chase heard their refusal and walked over, shaking Tim’s hand.”Hope you have dinner with you next time.”

“Of course.”

Chase glanced at Ashley before leaving with Tanya.

After lunch, Ashley and Tim returned to Speed. Tanya and her team returned later.

Around 6 PM, Ashley and Tim were ready to leave. But Tanya’s team was still working. George said, “They’re working late tonight.”

“Oh,” Tim replied.

Ashley said, “Let’s go.”

Tim smiled.”Dinner’s on me.”

She shook her head.”No, I have other plans.” She had to go back to Emily’s for dinner.

Chase and Sam were already there, which was a surprise to Ashley. She’d expected Chase to stay with Tanya. He glanced at her before returning to his

work.

At dinner, he sat beside her. Seeing him busy with his phone, she asked, “Free later? I need to talk to you.”

Chase, without looking up from his phone, said, “Okay.”

Reassured, Ashley relaxed. Emily smiled at their conversation.

After dinner, Emily had the medicine brought to Ashley. Chase left the dining room to take a call. Ashley finished her medicine and left the dining room just as a car pulled away.

She paused. He left?”

Emily huffed.”Yes. In a rush. I don’t know what’s so important.”

Ashley frowned, suspecting he’d gone to Speed to help Tanya. He’d agreed to talk to her, and she hoped he’d return. But he didn’t.

Speed had been busy for several days. After breakfast at Emily’s, Ashley and Tim met at the Speed entrance. Tanya’s team was already there.

Tim asked, “So early? No overtime last night?”

George said, “Yes, but they came in early to catch up.”

Tim didn’t comment; Ashley focused on her work.

An hour later, as Ashley was about to go to the restroom, Chase arrived. This time, it wasn’t about Tanya. After greeting Ashley from afar, Chase approached them.

Tim asked, “Mr. Sterling, what can I help you?”

Chase said, “I reviewed your system. It’s excellent, but I have some ideas I’d like to share.”
