Chapter 121
Ashley pretended not to notice that.”Go wash up and get dressed.”
“Okay!”
Ashley packed her stuff, picking up her bag to go downstairs. Then, she saw the housekeeper collecting her pajamas.
“Just throw them away, no need to wash them,” she said, then added, “Same with the rest. Please dispose of everything. I won’t need them anymore.”
Her divorce from Chase would be finalized soon. Even if she would still come to see Sam, she wouldn’t return or stay overnight here again.
These things were no longer needed, and she didn’t want to take them.
The problems between her and Chase had been simmering for months; her infrequent visits were already a sign of the end. Chase having her belongings removed from the master bedroom confirmed it.
The housekeeper understood what she meant.
She could only whisper, “Alright.”
As Ashley went downstairs, Chase returned from his morning run. He greeted her proactively, “Morning.”
Ashley nodded, replying calmly, “Morning.” She put her bag on the sofa and went into the kitchen. Chase went upstairs.
While the housekeeper was finishing the breakfast preparations, Ashley sat in the living room, reading and waiting for Sam.
Seeing that they were running late and Sam wasn’t down yet, Ashley asked the housekeeper to go upstairs and remind Sam. Previously, Ashley would have done this herself.
Now, she treated herself like a guest, seemingly less invested in Sam’s routine. The housekeeper nodded and went upstairs.
New book? Chase asked, noticing she was engrossed in her reading.
it was only when she heard his voice that she realized he’d come downstairs.
Ashley nodded.
Chase extended his hand.”May I?”
Ashley hesitated. “Don’t you have one?” It was the latest journal on AI. When they were newly married and she was less “mature,” she remembered seeing many Al-related books in his study, including the latest journals. He probably subscribed to them.
Ive been busy lately. Haven’t had time to read it,” he replied, his hand still outstretched.
Ashley heard Sam’s footsteps. It was time for breakfast, so she handed Chase the journal.
Sam came downstairs, taking Ashley’s hand.”Mommy, is breakfast ready?”
