Chapter 122

At Sam’s school, Ashley heard a sweet voice, “Aunt Ashley.”

Turning, she saw Kelly running towards her. “Aunt Ashley, last night, my mom asked me to deliver buns to you, but you weren’t home, so I took them

back.”

Before Ashley could respond, Sam scoffed.”You’re lying! My mom was home last night!” He was still unaware that Ashley had moved out,

Kelly scratched her head. “Oh? Really? Then why…”

Before Ashley could explain, Sam’s teacher called out, “Mrs. Sterling.”

“Ms. Davis, Ashley replied.

Ms. Davis asked Sam and Kelly to go inside; she needed to speak with Ashley.

Once they were gone, Ms. Davis said, “There’s a parent-child event at school next week. Did Sam tell you?”

Ashley shook her head. Sam hadn’t mentioned it.

“Oh… Ms. Davis sighed. She suspected as much but wanted to confirm.

Ashley said, “He’ll have company.”

This was Ashley’s consistent response. Ms. Davis sighed again.”Alright, I understand.”

Ashley thanked her and left.

Back at the office, Ashley was informed that Tanya and Mark came again. The previous meeting with Tanya had been incidental; neither she nor Tim ever intended to collaborate with the Monds. Tim immediately had them turned away.

Shortly after, Tim received a call. Seeing the caller ID, he glanced at Ashley.

Ashley raised her eyebrow.”Chase?”

Yes.

Ashley wasn’t surprised at all. She continued working.

Tim answered, “Mr. Sterling.”

Chase said, “Mr. Reed, how about we have dinner together tonight?”

Tim cut to the chase. “You’re calling for the Monds, right?”

Chase admitted it.

Tim chuckled. Mr. Sterling, Eternal will absolutely not collaborate with the Monds. I don’t need to explain why.”

Before Chase could respond, Tim continued, “Also, the proposal from Sterling Corp was excellent. However, if we collaborate, there’s a condition: you must guarantee that no one from the Mond or Holden families will have access to our project. If that’s not possible, we don’t have to talk about anything else. Is that clear?”

Chase replied, “Very clear.”

Tim decided to hang up.”Okay, Mr. Sterling. Goodbye.”

Chase didn’t him call back. In the following days, there was no further communication from Sterling Corp. It seemed Chase was willing to forgo the collaboration for Tanya.

A few days later, Tim heard that Sterling Corp had formed a project team for a new venture, with the Monds and Holdens involved. While not collaborating with Sterling Corp was a pity, there were plenty of other large companies. Eternal wasn’t entirely reliant on Sterling Corp.

On Friday evening, Burke returned. Ashley brought her laptop and joined Tim for dinner at Burke’s house. Afterward, Burke helped her review her

paper.

Late at night, as Ashley was about to leave for home, Mandy called. Mandy had booked a boat trip for the next day for her children, but then something came up and she couldn’t go.

Ashley said, “I understand. I’m free tomorrow; I’ll take them.”
