Ashley bent down, hugging Betty. “Betty, I miss you so much.”

Seeing Sheldon and Henry looking bewildered at Zark and Betty, Ashley introduced them. Zark greeted them warmly, Nice to meet you.” He presented the gifts he prepared. “I wasn’t sure what you’d like, but I hope you enjoy these.”

Sheldon, Henry, and even Ashley were surprised by his thoughtfulness.

After pleasantries, they boarded the boat. Sheldon and Henry knew about Ashley’s impending divorce from Chase. Seeing Ashley talking to Zark while holding Betty’s hand, Sheldon exchanged a look with Henry:Is he our future brother-in-law?

Henry replied with a shrug: Probably?

Seeing that Zark and Ashley weren’t noticing, Sheldon whispered to her brother, “He’s handsome.” And much more approachable than their previous brother-in-law.

Watching Ashley interact warmly with Betty, Sheldon and Henry had mixed feelings. They knew Ashley was divorcing Chase and likely wouldn’t get custody of Sam. Sam had been back from abroad for so long, but he rarely visited them: They suspected Sam preferred Chase. It was heartbreaking to imagine how much it had hurt Ashley.

Now, seeing Ashley move on, they were happy for her. They joined Betty, thinking that if Ashley married Zark, his family would be kind to Ashley.

Sheldon and Henry asked Betty if she wanted to try the water slide. Betty’s eyes lit up at the sight of the colorful slides, and she readily agreed. The slide was indoors, in a heated pool, so even in the cold weather, it was comfortable. Adults could use it, too, but it was mostly frequented by kids and teens.

Ashley and Zark tried the slide a few times and soon lost interest. Betty, Sheldon, and Henry, however, were having a blast.

Ashley sat by the side, enjoying the warmth of the pool. Zark brought her a drink.

Zark sat nearby.”You’re welcome.” He asked, “How old are your cousins?”

“Sheldon is sixteen, Henry is fourteen.”

Do you often bring them out?”

Ashley shook her head. “I used to, but I’ve been busy lately.”

Zark’s phone rang. He answered calmly,”Chase.”

Chase asked, “Where are you?”

‘On a yacht.”

‘A yacht?

“Yes.” Zark glanced at Ashley.”What happened?”

Chase said, “Sam wants to play games with Betty.”
