Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 146

Chapter 124

Ashley nodded. “Yes.”

Men

Her engrossed expression was remarkably similar to Chase’s-not in looks, but in demeanor. Zark realized they should be the same kind of people to some extent and they shared a passion for the same field. They probably would have gotten along well. But…

Their marriage cast a shadow over his thoughts. He used to believe the rumors that she’d used underhanded tactics to force Chase into marrying her. But as he got to know her, he doubted that. She didn’t seem that calculating.

As evening approached and the yacht neared the shore, Betty became close friends with, Sheldon and Henry. It was time to say goodbye. Sheldon and Henry happily waved to Zark. “Mr. Green, Betty, see you next time!”

Zark nodded, his gaze lingering on Ashley.”See you next time.”

“See you, Ashley replied, driving away without hesitation.

Back at home, Henry gossiped with Amanda about the boat trip. Learning that Ashley had spent the day with Zark, Amanda was surprised. Zark and Chase were childhood friends, and Ashley hadn’t known Zark well before. Why would Zark…?

Steve commented, That explains why the Greens suddenly approached me for a collaboration, and why Zark’s been so friendly to me lately…”

Mandy said, “So, he’s serious?”

Amanda knew Ashley well. She said, “Ashley and Chase aren’t officially divorced yet. I don’t think she’s ready for this. Let’s not interfere.”

Understood.”

The next morning, Ashley woke up at Amanda’s. After breakfast, her phone rang. It was Chase. She didn’t answer. He then texted: There’s a parent-teacher event at Sam’s school tomorrow. Be there.

Ashley replied, “I can’t make it.”

He called again. Ashley didn’t answer. Instead, she turned off her phone. When she turned it back on after finishing her work, she saw a new message from Chase: You’re with the Joneses?

Despite its brevity, the implication was clear: he’d come to the Jones residence if she didn’t respond.

Ashley clenched her phone, texting back, “What time does it start?”

Chase replied over half an hour later,”9 AM.”

Ashley didn’t reply. That evening, Sam called her.

“Mommy, why aren’t you home yet?” Daddy said Mommy would be there for the parent-teacher event, but it was almost nine, and she wasn’t home

yet.

Ashley said, “I’m not going home, I’ll go straight to your school tomorrow.”

Sam was surprised.”Oh…”

Ashley said, ‘Good night.”

‘Okay.’

Ashley informed Tim that she would be late to work the next day.

Monday morning, she arrived at Sam’s school on time.

‘Mommy!” Sam, standing beside Chase, waved excitedly to her.
