Chapter 357
Once business was concluded, Ashley noticed Gabriel hadn’t left; instead, he was looking thoughtfully at Zark. Not sure if they had any private dealings, she asked, “What’s up?”
Before, Gabriel had seen Zark like Ashley but never actually pursue her, so he’d assumed he’d fallen out of love with her.
Judging by today’s meeting, though, Zark clearly liked Ashley a lot and had no intention of giving up on her.
So, it quickly dawned on him that Zark might have known Ashley wasn’t divorced yet all along, and even who her husband was.
Mamu
When that thought crossed his mind, he’d initially considered finding an opportunity to ask Zark for some information about Ashley’s husband. But remembering how Zark had looked at him just now, he figured even if Zark really knew who Ashley’s husband was, he wouldn’t be nice enough to tell
him.
Besides, if he actually asked, it would be like revealing that he didn’t know enough about Ashley himself…
He certainly wouldn’t do anything that wasn’t worth the trouble.
Thinking that over, Gabriel pulled his gaze back, giving Ashley a faint smile.”It’s nothing,” he said. “I’ve got to run.”
Ashley: “Okay.”
Zark had noticed Gabriel’s gaze, but he couldn’t read Gabriel’s mind and didn’t know exactly what he was thinking. Still, from the cold, resolute glint in Gabriel’s eyes, he could tell Gabriel was dead set on Ashley.
After Gabriel left, Zark gave a small laugh.”That was the Bing Family’s heir, right?” he said.”Before, when people talked about him, they always said he was wild and headstrong. But after a few times dealing with him, I feel like he’s actually quite serious about his work, at least.”
Ashley thought he was just making casual conversation and chimed in, “His work ethic is genuinely good. He’s never complained about pulling all-nighters, never been late, and never left early. What’s more, he’s got a lot of talent. Overall, he’s pretty great.”
After learning about Gabriel’s background, she’d also assumed his joining Eternal was just a passing fancy.
She was actually quite surprised that he’d remained at Eternal so consistently until now.
Plus, hanging out with Gabriel was actually pretty chill, totally different from how it felt when we first met.
Zark’s praise seemed genuine, but he was actually testing Ashley’s feelings about Gabriel.
Hearing Ashley’s take on Gabriel, Zark just smiled, saying nothing.
He’d heard before that Gabriel came back to the States and joined Eternal because he admired their programming language.
So, that meant he came back for Ashley.
Just now, while Gabriel and Ashley were talking business, Zark noticed the way Gabriel looked at Ashley. It was clear he really respected her professionally.
In fact, he practically looked up to Ashley.
If Zark wasn’t mistaken, Gabriel probably didn’t even know Ashley was the one who developed Eternal’s programming language.
Even without that knowledge, Ashley could easily impress Gabriel with her skills. If he ever found out she was the person he’d been searching for,
wouldn’t he be even more…
Ashley’s answer just now showed that she had a really good impression of Gabriel.
From that perspective, Gabriel staying at Eternal was indeed a pretty good way to get to Ashley.
What’s more, Ashley and Chase’s divorce was about to be finalized. And you know what they say, ‘proximity has its advantages’…
