Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 382

Chapter 360

Two days later, at noon, Ashley and Gabriel were on their way to the cafeteria for lunch when her phone suddenly rang.

It was a call from Chase.

Ashley saw the name, hesitated for a second, then picked up.”Hello?”

“Grandma’s awake.”

Ashley’s heart brightened. Tll be right there,” she said.

“Okay.”

After hanging up, Ashley turned to Gabriel, who was waiting beside her. “Sorry, something came up,” she said.”I won’t be joining you at the cafeteria for

lunch.”

Gabriel glanced at the phone number on her screen, seeing she really had an urgent matter.”No problem,” he said.

Ashley nodded and quickly left.

She arrived at the hospital to find Chase, Sam, Linda, Lily, Alex, and the others already there.

As soon as she arrived, Sam rushed into her arms. Chase looked over at her too, then turned back to Emily and said, “Grandma, Ashley’s here.”

When Emily heard Ashley was there, a smile spread across her face, and she tried to look towards the door.

Ashley stepped forward and took Emily’s hand.”Grandma.”

Emily gently patted her hand. She tried to speak, but before she could utter a word, she drifted back to sleep.

Ashley panicked.”Grandma…”

Chase gently patted her shoulder and said, trying to reassure her, “Grandma just woke up. Her condition isn’t very stable yet, and she’s low on energy. The doctor said it’s normal, so don’t worry.”

Hearing that, Ashley finally breathed a sigh of relief. But Emily’s face looked terrible, and she worried it might be a ‘final burst of energy’ before the end.

She asked, “So, Grandma now…”

Chase said, “Her condition isn’t fully stable yet, but the doctors are optimistic she’ll slowly improve.”

A huge weight was lifted off Ashley’s shoulders.

A little while later, to avoid disturbing Emily’s rest, Ashley and Chase, along with the others, quietly exited the room.

Linda and Chase, along with the others, had basically gotten the news of Emily waking up while they were on their way to grab a bite.

None of them had eaten lunch yet.

Alex’s work kept him incredibly busy; he’d only managed to visit Emily twice while she was hospitalized and in a coma.

This time, he’d specifically taken an extra two days off. Noticing no one had eaten yet, he turned to Ashley and said, “Since Ashley’s back, why don’t we all grab a meal together?”

Alex had always been incredibly busy with work, so Ashley hadn’t seen much of him, whether before or after her marriage.

Still, growing up, Alex had always been pretty decent to her.

When Alex extended the invitation, Lily and Linda both remained silent.

And their silence, in fact, signaled no objections.

Throughout Ashley and Chase’s many years of marriage, she’d joined the Sterling family for a meal out fewer than three times.

Thinking back, it felt like ages ago.

Since she and Chase were already heading for divorce, she figured there was no point in intruding on their family meal. “No thanks,’ she said. “Tve got some company business to handle. Maybe another time.”

Everyone could tell it was just an excuse.
