Saturday night, Ashley took her grandma, Amanda, to a traditional opera show.

As they hit the ticket booth, someone nearby, who was already turning heads, spotted them. A quick smile flashed across his face, and he hustled right

over.

‘Ashley.”

Her name. Ashley turned, and there he was: Gabriel, cutting through the crowd, heading straight for her.

Ashley grinned up at him.”Hey, what a coincidence! You’re here for the master’s show too?”

Except, it wasn’t a coincidence. Not even close.

Gabriel had totally planned this.

At the office, Gabriel always called her Ms. Jones.

Besides her interview, this was the very first time he’d ever called her ‘Ashley.’

Seeing Ashley didn’t seem bothered, he gave a slight smile. When Ashley was about to introduce him to Amanda, he greeted Amanda first,”Good evening, Madam.”

Amanda smiled and nodded,”Hello.”

It was pretty rare nowadays to find young people who were into traditional opera.

Plus, the way Gabriel looked at Ashley when he talked…

As an outsider, Amanda practically instantly knew Gabriel had a thing for Ashley.

But seeing Ashley was totally oblivious, she just kept quiet.

Noticing it was just Ashley and Amanda at the show, Gabriel asked, “How come you didn’t bring the kid? Does he not like opera?”

At the mention of Sam, Ashley’s smile faded a bit.

Sam had said earlier that he’d be back in Belfort by noon today and wanted her to take him out once he was back.

But it was already evening, and Sam had clearly been back for a while.

Yet, he hadn’t asked her to pick him up at the airport, nor had he called to say he was coming over.

Honestly, she didn’t really mind it.

She was used to it by now,

As for what Sam was up to now, Ashley had a pretty good idea.

When Gabriel asked about her, Ashley just said, her voice flat,”Kinda.”

Gabriel had figured this would be a great topic for a long chat.

But when he saw Ashley’s complete lack of interest, and the almost chilling indifference on her face when he mentioned the kid, he was actually pretty surprised.

Still, he quickly figured she was probably just upset because she couldn’t get custody of the kid.

Seeing Ashley wasn’t keen on that topic, he didn’t push it.

Once they were inside the theater, Gabriel swapped his prime seats with someone, just so he could sit next to Ashley.

He had deliberately brushed up on traditional opera.

Then he found a few more opera-related topics to chat about with Ashley and Amanda, and they all seemed to enjoy the conversation.

As the show neared its end, everyone was quietly absorbed in the performance when Ashley’s phone gave a soft buzz.

Ashley glanced down. It was a text from Chase.
