Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 411

Chapter 389.

Menu

The disaster situation was getting worse, and while the old mansion’s high ground kept it mostly safe, by evening, cell service started cutting in and out.

Based on the severe rain warning issued that afternoon, it was unlikely she’d be able to leave the mansion and go back to Eternal for work tomorrow.

That night, after dinner, Ashley texted her family to let them know she was safe, then called Tim, her partner. She told him she was at the Sterling family’s old mansion and might not make it to work tomorrow morning.

Tim said, “The disaster’s pretty bad right now. Eternal already sent out a notice for everyone to work from home tomorrow. No rush on your end. I’l handle any urgent stuff for you. We can connect more tomorrow.”

“Got it.”

After that, Ashley sat on the rug, playing board games with Sam, while Chase sat on the couch across the room, reading.

Over an hour later, Chase walked over.

Ashley didn’t look up, but Sam did.”Dad? What’s up?” he asked.

Chase’s gaze, however, landed on Ashley.”Want to play chess?”

Ashley actually really liked chess.

And Chase was indeed a formidable opponent.

If it were anyone else, she’d be more determined with every loss.

But if the opponent was Chase…

She just shook her head coolly.”Not really interested.”

Chase heard her, didn’t say anything, just looked at her, then changed the subject. “If you’re bored, why don’t you go upstairs and read a book?”

When he said “upstairs,” he naturally meant going to his room or his study to grab a book.

Ashley listened, her face still expressionless.”No thanks.”

Chase didn’t get annoyed, just smiled faintly, and asked again, “Have you read the latest journals?”

No

She’d already bought the physical copies, but had been too busy lately to read them.

Chase didn’t press, just turned and went upstairs.

Not long after, he came back down, but this time he was carrying several books.

He placed the books in front of Ashley.

Ashley paused, finally looking up at him.”Thanks.”

You’re welcome.”

Ashley sat next to Sam, engrossed in her books.

Chase didn’t bother her again.

That night, Ashley went back to Sam’s room and slept with him.

Chase didn’t come to disturb them again.

The next morning, when she woke up and went downstairs, Chase was on the phone.

After breakfast, Tim called her about some work stuff. Ashley didn’t have a laptop, so she had to ask the butler to borrow one.

The butler said he rarely used a computer; his broke last year, and he hadn’t replaced it.

Chase silently went upstairs, came back down with a laptop, and placed it in front of her. He told her the password as he typed it in.
