Chapter 411

Menu

In Catherine’s mind, Chase only had eyes for her sister, Tanya. He totally wasn’t into Ashley. So, even seeing Ashley and Chase together, she didn’t really care. She just figured Chase was with Ashley here solely for Sam.

Just as she was thinking that, she spotted Sam. The kid was standing in front of Ashley, looking back and talking up at her.

She let out a scoff.

Sam didn’t notice Catherine at all. He was totally hooked on the drum set.

He practically bounced as he told Ashley, “Mom, this drum set looks super cool, I wanna learn!”

Of course Ashley wouldn’t say no if her kid wanted to learn something.

But she and Chase were almost divorced, and Sam’s custody was going to him. So, Chase really should be the one calling the shots on what Sam learned from now on.

She offered a small smile. “You’ll have to ask your dad about that.”

Sam turned to Chase.”Dad, can I?”

Chase smiled.”Sure.”

Sam cheered, “Yay!” He grabbed Ashley’s hand with one of his and Chase’s with the other.”Let’s go sign up right now!”

Chase didn’t move. He bent down, ruffling Sam’s hair.”No rush on signing up,” he said. “You wanna learn? How about we go pick out a drum set you like first? Once you find the right one, Dad’s gonna get you a teacher to come teach you right here at home.”

Sam’s eyes lit up.”Yes, yes, YES! Let’s go now! I gotta pick out the most epic one!”

He let go of Chase’s hand, then tugged Ashley out of the crowd. Turning back, he asked, “Dad, where are we gonna buy a drum set?”

Chase pulled out his phone, trailing behind them.”Dad will make a call and ask around.”

“Awesome!”

Sam yanked Ashley along. Ashley wanted to bail, but Sam was practically buzzing, totally set on bringing her. Plus, Chase was actually on the phone, looking stuff up. Ashley couldn’t find it in her to say no.

Chase finished his call. He stepped closer, walking right up to Ashley. He grinned.”Mind if I ride with you?”

Before Ashley could even say anything, Sam blurted out, “Yes! Please, please!”

Ashley?…

No way she could refuse now.

She stayed silent, following Sam and Chase out of the plaza and down to the underground parking garage.

Catherine usually couldn’t care less about Ashley. But seeing the three of them right now, looking like a picture-perfect happy family? Even knowing Chase secretly couldn’t stand Ashley, and that he was only being civil for Sam’s sake, a sour feeling still twisted in her gut.

Just then, her bubble tea finally showed up.

She shot a glare at Ashley’s back, grabbed her bubble tea, and walked away.

But she didn’t head back to the Holdens’. She went to the Monds’.

After all, they all basically lived in the villa Chase had bought for Vivian.
