Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 77

Chapter 54

Ashley paused.

She hadn’t mentioned leaving Sterling Corp.

She looked at Chase, who seemed in a good mood. He didn’t mention her resignation, likely fearing Emily would make her return.

Emily changed the subject, taking them for a walk.

When they came back, Emily was tired and told them to she wanted to rest.

Emily said, I’m gonna take a shower first. The soup is ready, you two may have some.”

Ashley was about to agree, but the implication that Emily planned to stay the night hit her.

She glanced at Chase.

Chase, as if reading her mind, said after Emily had walked away, “Grandma’s staying here for a few days.”

“What?” Ashley was stunned.

Chase offered no further explanation. “I’m heading to the study.” He didn’t wait for a response, simply heading upstairs.

Sam, however, bounded down the stairs, pulling Ashley up with him to help him with a tricky puzzle box.

Menu

After over an hour of puzzle-solving with Sam, the housekeeper, arrived with the soup.”Mrs. Sterling, here you are.” She placed a bowl on the bedside

table.

Ashley accepted it.”Thank you.”

Take it. It’s still hot.”

“Okay, I will.”

The housekeeper left, taking the other bowl to Chase.

Ashley savored the warm soup, then urged Sam to take a bath. With Emily around, she couldn’t sleep in Sam’s room.

After Sam’s bath, Ashley went to the master bedroom. Chase wasn’t there. Probably he was still in the study.

Ashley continued working. She still had some emails to respond to.

She took the time to reply to some of the emails, but some issues were tricky. Mulling them over, she went into the bathroom.

After taking a shower, she realized she’d forgotten bringing her pants. She’d splashed water on her old pants while washing her face. Chase probably wasn’t back yet…

Hesitantly, she opened the bathroom door and stepped out. She met Chase’s gaze immediately.

Ashley felt a little awkward, but not overly uncomfortable. After all, they were married, and… well, they’d had sex plenty of times in the years since they’d wed.

Over the years, she’d hoped Chase would fall in love with her, but she’d never tried to seduce him. Not that she hadn’t thought about it, but she’d figured it wouldn’t work.

Ashley usually wore loose, collared two-piece pajamas around the house.

The top she had on now was one of those loose and long enough that even without pants, it wasn’t exactly revealing. She honestly hadn’t meant to tempt him.

Still, to avoid any misunderstanding, she explained,”I just forgot to grab my pants…”

Ashley thought her loose, long top was fine, even without bottoms.

But she forgot she had a killer figure

perfectly proportioned, curves in all the right places.

The top, shorter in the front and longer in the back, showcased her long, creamy legs while hinting at the delicate curve of her hips.

Fresh from the shower, her skin glowed, making her look pure and innocent. The pajama top, ironically, gave off a definite “boyfriend shirt” vibe. It was even more alluring than any actual sexy lingerie.

Chase glanced at her twice, then looked away, saying flatly, “Mmm.”

Relieved he didn’t seem to misinterpret, Ashley breathed a sigh of relief. Saying nothing more, she went to her walk-in closet.

When she came back fully dressed, Chase was still in the room. Ashley figured they had nothing to talk about. After a quick glance, she passed him, sat at her vanity, and started her nightly skincare routine.

Chase got up, went to his own closet, grabbed some clothes, and headed to the bathroom to shower.

It was late.

After the skincare, Ashley went straight to bed.

The last time she shared a bed with Chase at Emily’s, she was completely unfazed and had fallen asleep instantly.

This time, however, thanks to his agreement to help her, a complex mix of emotions churned within her, keeping her awake long after she’d settled into

the sheets.

Chase emerged from the bathroom, ready for bed. A short while later, he switched off the lights and lay down on the other side of the bed.
