The private room was quiet. Maggie made up an excuse to leave, and the moment she turned the corner, her expression twisted into something almost feral.
She dialed a number. Elsa picked up on the other end.
Maggie had met Elsa back in high school. Back then, Kerwin was the golden boy—everyone’s favorite, the one who seemed untouchable. But Kerwin only ever had eyes for Athena. The jealousy burned in Maggie, and when she met the Kellers and noticed how much Kerwin resembled their family, she hadn’t hesitated to spill the secret.
If she couldn’t have him, then that wretched Athena certainly didn’t deserve him either.
“I’m in Greenfield now. Want to meet up?”
Elsa was always a little wary of Maggie. Back in school, Maggie had played the sweet, approachable girl, but behind closed doors, she’d once pushed a freshman down the stairs—and walked away without consequence. She’d chased after Kerwin shamelessly, then suddenly fallen silent, leaving everyone guessing what she was plotting.
After Kerwin and Athena graduated, Maggie disappeared from everyone’s radar. So why was she reaching out now?
Elsa didn’t have much going on these days, and she was bored enough to accept. She quickly texted Maggie an address.
When they met, Elsa instantly regretted her outfit—she’d gone all out, dressed head to toe in designer labels, desperate to impress. But Maggie looked effortlessly understated: clean lines, simple colors, not a brand in sight, which only made Elsa feel like a tacky wannabe.
“Hey, Maggie. Long time no see.”
Elsa sat down, a little awkward, remembering how everyone used to fawn over Maggie’s wealth and generosity. Back then, her family’s business was legendary, and people tripped over themselves to get close to her.
“What brings you to Greenfield all of a sudden? I thought your family didn’t have any business here.”
Everyone knew Maggie came from money. She could have coasted straight into a cushy future, no college entrance exams required, and there was never a shortage of people eager to befriend her.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
