Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2237

After her morning break, Athena grabbed her keys and headed out for a drive, hoping to clear her mind.

She had no idea when Marlon might make his move, but knowing his temperament, she was sure he’d try to intimidate her sooner or later.

Parking in a quiet corner of the city, she got out, planning to pick up a few things at a nearby shop. She barely made it a few steps before a group of burly men appeared out of nowhere. One of them pressed a cloth over her mouth and nose. The world spun and went dark.

When she came to, her eyes were covered with a thick blindfold. She had no idea where she was.

“Who are you? Why did you kidnap me?” Her voice trembled, but inside, she already had a sinking suspicion—these had to be Marlon’s people.

Someone gripped her jaw, no pretense of kindness in their voice.

“You know, you’re actually pretty cute. I heard you’re a minor celebrity, huh? Never had one of those before.”

Athena’s cheeks drained of color. She tried to shrink back, but another man seized her by the ankles and dragged her across the floor.

“Why are you running?” he sneered. “Word is, you’ve been with plenty of men. Don’t tell me you think you’re too good for the likes of us?”

Athena’s brow tightened. Doubt flickered inside her. If these men really worked for Marlon, shouldn’t they be grilling her about the Keller family or her birthmark? But all they seemed interested in was ruining her.

Her pulse skipped. Maybe these men worked for Maggie instead. After the humiliation Maggie had suffered, it wouldn’t be surprising if she wanted revenge.

Athena struggled harder, the ropes around her wrists biting deep, leaving angry red marks. One of the men leered.

“Well, well. That birthmark on your thigh is something special, isn’t it?”

Athena’s heart thudded. If they were mentioning the birthmark, then maybe they really were Marlon’s people. At least Marlon wouldn’t let them actually go through with their threats. Still, she forced herself to act panicked, tucking her legs in tight.

“What does it matter to you? Let me go!”

No sooner were the words out than rough hands tore at her clothes.
