Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2278

Athena leaned against him, not really caring about anything else.

She wasn't sure how long she had been dozing off, but by the time she was gently lifted and placed onto Bennitt’s warm bed, the sky outside had turned dark.

This place seemed like a small island, bustling with locals. The night market here was lively, and as Athena was carried over, she heard the vendors shouting their wares, filling the air with a vibrant energy.

After about half an hour, a delicious aroma reached her nose. Marlon shook her gently awake. “You’ve been asleep all day. Get up and eat something, then we can hit the night market.”

“I thought we were here to catch someone? How can you think about going to a market?”

“He’s here among the locals. He can’t get far. My people have blocked all the exits, so it’s just a matter of time before we catch him.”

Athena exhaled in relief and kissed Marlon on the cheek. “You’re amazing, Marlon.”

Marlon grinned, playing along with the charade. “To be your fiancé, you’d expect nothing less. It just shows you’ve got great taste.”

“Of course, I always have the best taste.”

Marlon was pleased by her compliment and wrapped his arm around her, his tone softening. “I brought some things from the night market. See what you’d like to eat.”

He had brought a lot, almost as if he thought she needed feeding like a little piggy. Athena, feeling hungry after her nap, nestled in his embrace and started to eat heartily.

Marlon had never realized watching a woman eat could bring such joy. He reached out to wipe a bit of food from the corner of her mouth. “Why the rush? No one’s taking it from you.”

“I’m just afraid you’ll eat it all.”

Marlon’s eyes darkened as he watched her lips. Athena seemed oblivious, finishing everything before hopping off the bed. “Weren’t we going to the night market? I want to see what it’s like here. This isn’t the mainland, is it?”

Marlon chuckled, finding her childlike curiosity endearing. He indulged her, holding her hand as they headed out.
