From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 226

Sydney stormed into the school, her anger barely contained. “Ms. Truman, Grant is one of the top students here. How can you just expel him?”

Images of the bruises on Grant’s face flashed through her mind. There was no way he just fell. Someone had clearly hit him.

“So this is how your school handles things? My son gets beat up and he’s the one you kick out? I’m reporting this to the education board.”

Ms. Truman gave her a polite, strained smile, her tone calm. “Mrs. Goff, please, have a seat and take a breath. Why don’t I show you a video? We haven’t shared this with anyone else, just the families involved, to keep things discreet for Grant’s sake.”

“With everything online these days, you don’t want Grant to get labeled as a bully, do you?”

A bully?

Sydney hesitated, then took the phone. The video showed everything, clear as day. Grant was the one provoking the other student, throwing insults at his classmate’s big sister, and then picking a fight. There was no denying it, not even for her.

Her face changed as she struggled to find an argument. “Okay, maybe Grant did something wrong, but isn’t expulsion too much? How’s he supposed to get into another school after this?”

Ms. Truman sighed, her voice gentle. “Mrs. Goff, I know you care about Grant’s education. But you can’t only focus on grades. Character matters, too. Most kids his age know better than to say those kinds of things. It’s rare to see anything like this.”

“Grant has been using the confidence you give him to push other kids around. This isn’t the first time. Most students just put up with it, but not everyone’s going to stay quiet forever, right?”

Ms. Truman arched her brows. “There’s always someone out there who can push back, Mrs. Goff.”

“Where are you?”

Grant hesitated. “Uh, Mom? I’m at school.”

Sydney’s anger flared up again. “School? You’ve already been expelled. What school are you at?”

Grant, sitting at a friend’s house playing computer games, froze.

“Mom, you found out? It’s not my fault! It’s all because Jared has that sister who knows how to handle things.”
