From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 250

The VIP suite came with its own private lounge. George walked in, hands clasped behind his back, his face and neck turning an angry shade of red.

Marleigh shot Max a glare, silently telling him to knock it off. No one wanted George to get so worked up he actually made himself sick.

Eleanor watched the two men leave, nerves twisting in her stomach. Marleigh reached over and squeezed her hand. "It's fine. Let him have a minute to cool down."

Eleanor nodded. She knew Max was only getting chewed out because of her.

Inside the lounge, George told Max to shut the door and lock it. Then he lifted his cane and smacked Max hard on the shin. "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

Max didn’t dodge, letting his dad get the first hit in.

"Dad, what are you even mad about?"

George looked ready to swing again, but this time Max stepped back, fast. "I let you have one, just to let off some steam. Don’t push it."

"Oh, I’m the one going too far? You’re the one out of line! You knew about her and Peter, but you married her anyway?"

Max narrowed his eyes. His voice was cold. "Why not? Who does Peter Clarkson think he is? Do I need his approval to get married? Dad, back when I couldn’t stand him, you were the one who kept bringing him over. He cheated with his sister-in-law. Did you ever scold him for that?"

"That’s not the same!" George snapped. Just thinking about all the gossip their messed-up family would stir up made his head ache.

"So what now, you expect me to get a divorce?" Max stared him down. "I married her because I wanted to. If you can’t accept her, we’ll leave right now."

"You get back here!" George roared.

His shout was so loud it made Eleanor jump out in the hallway. Clearly, things were getting heated.
