From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 285

When the wedding was finally over and all the guests had left, Jessie Goff just lost it. She tore every single wedding dress she had worn that day into pieces. Her hands were shaking, her breath coming in sharp, angry bursts.

“This is all your fault, Peter. Your precious ex-wife ruined my wedding!”

Autumn wasn’t having any of it. “Why are you blaming Peter? You knew exactly who you were marrying. Or did you forget you were the one who pulled my son away from Eleanor?”

Jessie’s face was so red it looked like she might explode. “Mom, are you seriously siding with Eleanor now?”

Autumn’s eyes narrowed. “I’ve never been on Eleanor’s side. I’m on my son’s. Always have been.”

She reached out and tugged Peter by the arm. “Let’s go. She can come back if she wants, or not, I honestly don’t care. If she had any self-respect at all, this wedding wouldn’t have turned into such a disaster.”

Peter’s face was unreadable. He didn’t even try to comfort Jessie. “You need some time to cool off. So do I.”

He didn’t look back as he walked away, and Jessie just stood there, watching him go. She cried until she lost track of time. Otto showed up after he realized Peter had already left. He let out a heavy sigh and told Kennedy to go look for Jessie.

Adam got there first. “I’ll go.”

He heard Jessie crying before he even reached the door. His heart sunk. He knocked gently.

“Jessie, it’s me. Adam.”

She opened the door, her face blotchy, eyes swollen, tears and mascara everywhere. “Adam, I want a divorce.”

Adam froze, and then his voice got tight with anger. “Did Peter do something to you?”

Jessie couldn’t even put into words all the frustration and humiliation that had built up inside her. Otto followed them in and quietly closed the door behind him.
