George nodded. The comment made him chuckle. Was Eleanor really busier at work than his own son? Still, if his son wanted to pamper his wife, George had no plans to step in.

“What about the wedding dress photos? Let me see them once you pick,” Marleigh chimed in, her focus already elsewhere.

The photographer had sent all the previews to Max earlier, asking him to choose his favorites.

Max got up and cast the photos onto the big living room screen. “Let’s just pick them out here.”

Eleanor’s cheeks flushed and she hesitated, her voice uncertain. “Here?”

Max smiled and shrugged. “Relax. Mom’s got great taste.”

Marleigh grinned, making herself comfortable on the sofa. “Perfect. Let’s do it.”

George came over to join the group. Katie stood off to the side, eyes glued to the screen. Every photo showed Max looking at Eleanor with such tenderness, it left her feeling confused. Was Max really this serious about Eleanor?

“This one’s gorgeous,” Marleigh said.

“And I love this one too,” she added.

Max spun a pen between his fingers, jotting down notes.

Eleanor glanced over. “What are you writing?”

“I’m making a list of the ones that need a little touch-up,” Max said. “I want all the originals, but these here could use some editing. Let’s pick a few to enlarge—we’ll need one for the reception, some to hang at home, and a couple smaller ones for the tables.”

He paused, thinking. “And one for my wallet. The rest can go in an album.”

Eleanor parted her lips, a little surprised. “You… already thought this all through?”

Max gave her a soft, teasing smile. “Of course. My wife looks amazing in every shot.”

George cleared his throat, a little embarrassed. These two never missed a chance to show off their love. Marleigh, though, looked genuinely happy. She could tell her son adored Eleanor, and the two of them clearly had something special.

Katie’s emotions were all over the place. She didn’t say a word as she hurried upstairs.
