From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 330

“If you’re not running a fever, then why are your cheeks so red?”

Eleanor didn’t answer. She just ducked away from his hand, poked half-heartedly at her soup, and then pushed the bowl aside.

Max didn’t argue. He just told the driver to take them to the hospital.

Shawn Crane had just finished his morning rounds when he spotted Max in the lobby, one arm wrapped around Eleanor.

“Is Eleanor still not feeling well?”

Max handed over his ID card. “Go get my wife registered.”

Shawn took the card with a sigh and went to the front desk. He came back with a slip for the Gastroenterology department and handed it to Max. Max glanced at it, then shook his head. “Wrong department.”

Shawn frowned. “Let’s start with Gastro. We’ll see what the tests say, then go somewhere else if we need to.” Nausea usually meant something stomach-related, after all.

Max glanced at Eleanor, who was slouching in one of the waiting room chairs. He lowered his voice. “Not Gastro. OB/GYN.”

Shawn froze, eyes widening as he did the math. “Wait. Max, are you serious?”

Max just gave him a look. “Go.”

Eleanor trailed after Max into the exam room. The doctor barely looked up before ordering a blood test.

Waiting for results was agony. Even Max looked uncertain.

When the report finally printed, Max stared at it, his face unreadable.

Eleanor’s heart started pounding. “What’s wrong? Is it something serious?”

“Don’t say things like that,” Max said quietly, pressing his fingers to her lips. “No bad luck.”

Shawn watched, trying not to laugh at the smile twitching at the corners of Max’s mouth. This guy didn’t do anything halfway.

The doctor came in, scanning the report. “Looks like you’re about four weeks pregnant. Congratulations, you’re going to be parents.”

Eleanor, who had been practically melting into her chair, shot upright. “Wait, what? Are you sure there’s no mistake?”
