From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 332

She wasn’t sure if this news would be a happy surprise for Max’s parents or if it would just send them into a panic.

Otto and Kennedy showed up at the Clarkson house, hoping to get a meeting with George. George, on the other hand, claimed he was napping and left them in the foyer for almost three hours before finally deciding to come out. The two families weren’t close to begin with, and since the Clarksons were Eleanor’s side of the family, George knew exactly where his loyalties lay.

“So, what brings you here today?” George asked, acting like he had no idea why they’d come.

Otto forced a friendly smile, careful not to let any annoyance show. “Oh, George, there’s nothing urgent. We just wanted to stop by and pay our respects. And, well, is Max home by any chance?”

George stroked his beard, pretending to think it over. “Max? He’s not here all that often. You know how it is, he just got married. He and Eleanor are pretty much glued together these days.”

“Sorry you made the trip for nothing.”

“No, no, not at all,” Otto replied quickly, not daring to accept George’s apology. “Actually, George, you’ve probably heard there’s been… some misunderstandings between us and Max.”

He hesitated, then went on, “It’s really my daughter’s fault. Her mother passed away early, and I, along with her brothers, spoiled her too much.”

“I came today to apologize to both Max and Eleanor. I promise Jessie won’t cause any more trouble.”

Otto’s voice was full of sincerity. He just wanted George to give him the tiniest bit of hope. He wasn’t asking for a miracle, just a small crack in the wall.

But it was clear he wasn’t going to get it.

“Sorry, Otto. Max has always had a mind of his own. Now that I’ve stepped back from the company, he’s even less likely to listen to me.”

George paused, then added, “But when it comes to raising kids, you could stand to learn a thing or two. If you don’t teach your children well, you’re the one who ends up embarrassed, right?”

The gentle dig hit Otto right where it hurt.

“Yes, yes, you’re right. Well, I won’t take up any more of your time. Sorry to bother you today.”

George smiled faintly and had the butler show them out. As he watched them leave, he couldn’t help but feel that the Goff family had picked the wrong fight. Of all people, they had to mess with Max. That man loved Eleanor to his bones.
